Concorde Costs

Back in the day when BA and Air France were still flying Concordes to New York and Washington, how much more was a ticket on a Concorde compared to a ticket on a conventional sub-sonic airliner?

I don't know why I'm asking this, I just found a sudden urge to find out.

BA's paid Concorde (R class) fare used to be about 20% higher than the F fare on the same route. Quite often people booked in F were given the option at check-in to go on Concorde instead, and some took the option while others did not.

One interesting piece of trivia is that FF award tickets came out of Z inventory the same as F awards, so for FF programs like QF you could fly Concorde for the same FF points as an F award. It used to cost 125,000 QF FF points to fly Concorde return between NY and London, and you could tack on a small sidetrip and still remain under the mileage maximum for the award. That was one of the better QF FF awards.

My recollection was that my F RTW trip in 2002 cost in the vicinity of $15K (including the ~$4K uplift to Concorde on BA). I'll have to find my notes to get the exact figure.

Wholeheartedly agree with NYC, it was well worth it.

I would say without a doubt the best looking passanger plane ever !

One flight only, when i was only 15 in 1992, the most amazing expereince, even got to see the flight desk, arranged by pilot friend of mine.
Almost 1400mph !! The flight was organised by a family friend for a group of 6 people, for no other reason but 3 of us really wanted to fly the concorde, oh and we were sort of going that way around the world.

Such a shame its still not flying or they don't just pull one out for us to buy some tickets on. Somehow i doubt there will be anything like it for a long time, if ever.

There is a few on display around the world to see. Its totally different that most planes you will ever see except military jets, even the engines are a low bypass design for supersonic flight.

I really wished i had been on one of the last flights on 2003 but at the time could not afford the cost really.
