As a WP who reached the required 2,100 status credits in 12 months a few of years back ,Mrs sweens was presented with her QFF gold card.

I reached the mark again the following year and she kept the card (She only flys a few times each year but the card comes in very handy)

During the past 12 months my flying reduced a little and while reaching the required level to retain my WP status I did not reach 2,100 SC's.

Then last week her renewed gold card turnred up in the mail.

My question...is this QF being generous or did I read it wrongly and as a WP once you have reached the magic 2,100 SC's in 12 months as long as I retain my WP status the partner gold card will be valid or do I really need the 2,100 SC's each year to retain the partner gold card?

I can't find the answer on the QFF web site.

QFF have been known to renew various membership level for people who either have averaged the right amount over a few years or who just miss out but have plenty of travel booked just after their renewal date.

I would not rely on not doing the 2100 SCs of travel to retain PG in the future.

That's the first I have come across that one. :D

Congrats, at least it give the 50% bonus on longer QF flights and possibly, saves on QP membership.

As simongr posted, I would not rely on this in the future.

Thanks...It seems as though QF just comped me...I better get those SC's up this year to keep the PG.

DONE 4 here I come!

When I was in a similar position, Mrs NM was sent a Silver card and an offer to take on a paid Qantas Club membership without paying the joining fee. The following year she received a Bronze FF card in the mail.

Yes, NM that has been my experience, i missed re qualifying for partner gold by 5 SC's (just had no chance of a short trip to get it) and the same thing happened. If I manage to get partner gold then excellent but if she is traveling with me then no need for it. I think this is very unusual for QF to comp partner gold so well done to sweens.

Just stumbled upon this and thought I'd add my bit.

In our case I am the Partner Gold (or pity gold as we know it).

Kathy's work changed airlines mid year so no more international Q :(. She fell just short of Plat (& obviously way short of Part Gold) but was given another year of Plat anyway.

Thats not the odd part, the odd part was that while I only had about 250 SC's I was sent the "whilst you have failed to requalify for Gold . . . here is another year of Gold" letter.

Another year of not reverting back to my paid QP, good times.

Cheers, Macka

Congratulations.

There seems to be quite a few 'good time' stories around at the moment.

I missed re-qualifying for PG by about 160 SC's. The partner got sent a silver card and a free QP card with 3 months validity.

Due to change in work circumstance I will be going from about 2000 sc's a year to zero! In fact I am having to plan little weekends away just to get my four flights up!

PG is really nice and the partner has used it extensively around oneworld and it was even the suspected catalyst for an opup on Finnair from Y to J on HEL-JFK.
