My wife and I are flying next week on our honeymoon. We booked our flights through Lufthansa, however the first leg is QF97, operated by Qantas on a Qantas callsign. When booking the trip there was no option to add a QF FF number as Lufthansa don't partner with QF. As a result I added my SQ details.

When I go to QF "Manage booking" I can retrieve the trip details by Booking Ref but it neither shows up in My Bookings nor (more importantly to me at the moment) in the list of eligible flights to link my complimentary invitations to.

Call centre was most unhelpful. They said they couldn't do anything because it was booked with another airline. I feel that I have met the terms and conditions... it says QF flight number operated by Qantas, it says nothing about who I booked it with.

Any clever ideas on how to get my QF FF number in, and link my lounge invitations? I don't think I earn any SQ points anyway so I'm happy to call Lufthansa and have it removed if anyone thinks that will help, but I doubt they'll be able to add QF.

If you can access your booking using AY (Finnair) website, you should be able to change your current FF program to Qantas.

camcam, welcome to the AFF forum :)

I understand your difficulty. I do not know your overall skills with travelling, but as you have probably already worked out, the only time a flight will appear in your Qantas MMB (Manage My Bookings) is when your Qantas frequent flyer number is tied into that flight - which clearly it will not be due to you being forced to add your SQ details.

So first step is to change that - to get the flight linked to your Qantas account. I am unskilled in Lufthansa bookings, but what defurax suggested seems sound. AY appears to offer more ability when trying to manage flights when booked with a third party.

When you talked to Qantas, what did you say? Did you expressly detail that you have an upcoming flight that is on a QF ticket and on QF metal, and that you wanted to link your QF membership to that flight?

I know it is tedious making phone calls, but be advised that quite often it is a lottery - the person you end up speaking to may simply lack the skills to facilitate what you want. Hence the often used technique by frequent flyers of "HUACA" - this is "Hang Up And Call Again" This is because you may get someone on a second or further call that suddenly can resolve things due to their greater knowledge. I know this should not be a necessity, but that is the reality :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks all for your help, love this forum. I originally tried AY but it gave me the "unable to connect to the booking system" error that has been reported here many times. Royal Jordan worked perfectly though. And now in QF it shows my bookings AND I can link my lounge invites..
Thanks again folks for your help.

A friend of mine who books QF tickets using BA miles has also had this issue.

He reported that if managed his booking on QF.com and added contact details (I think his Aus mobile number) that suddenly the booking becomes available to link invitations to. However I'm not sure if the QF number has been added in prior to that.
