And when did they promise to fulfill that offer?

Doesn't have to be a promise, it's assumed and implied by the offer and it was accepted. Now as the offer was freebie and does not change the spending/buying habits of the customer it's pretty much irrelevant if it can or can not be delivered, and there is really no compensation that would be payable.

However, as I said the T&C's which didn't exist, also didn't mention a time-frame. Again another 5-10 mins spent putting some clauses/T&C's with the offer email would have been saved any confusion/questions.

A clause that "this offer may not be available to all members who register" would have easily stemmed any confusion.

Simply saying that "when did they promise to fulfill that offer" does not change that it was offered!

They have not failed to delivery anything yet, all that was offered as a years subscription if you said yes by May 2, note the terms of the offer say its not applicable to every address, its possible many will be out of that area.

I didn't remember seeing those terms, but for offers like this, I rarely read the small print.

So, in this case, there is no problem about non-deliver!

But, I'll still stand by a "it would have been nice to know when delivery would start, and also how to find out IF you will be eligible for home delivery"

The offer is subject to the terms and conditions and are linked on the offer page, in fact its the first line:

Subscriptions to The Australian Financial Review, The Weekend Financial Review, BRW, AFR Smart Investor, MIS, Asset and CFO are available in Australia where a normal home delivery service exists. For more information on the applicable delivery areas, please contact Customer Service on 1800 646 990.

I also note the terms say Please allow up to 10 working days from the date of application for daily and weekly publication subscriptions to commence and up to 6 weeks for monthly publication subscriptions.

I agree some sort of expectation along those lines could have been made with the offer text!

In DRW signed up for it, but alas nothing.

You can't really do that Virgin... offer something then not deliver.

Its just not cricket.

May be a slight delay as where you are located geographically.. Only a hunch.

However does seem to be erratic,The house over the road still has papers delivered so we are in a delivery area.Others on the Sunshine Coast vreport AFR delivered already so it doesn't appear to be just on geographic area.
Probably just that many more than expected took up the offer.

Got mine! - but bizarrely Virgin call centre girl who I just called to make a booking change STILL had no idea about the offer.

This is the most bizarre promo ever but hey I finally got the paper!!

Wonder what happens to the paper when I lose DJ Platinum? (not bothering to keep it, will maybe maintain look to maintain Gold if they sort some stuff out)

Interesting, that a promo to Virgin's "most valued members" is not listed/discussed with the call centre staff....

The paper will just continue even if you lose Platinum I would say!

So it sounds like you are back to QF ?

What is this "stuff" they need to sort ?

I have a little bit of a soft spot after one flawless flight with VA last night. I was blown away with the perfect service!

They need more Sarah's working as CSM's

Same here but I will need to suspend delivery in 2 weekends time when I go to Cbr for Ozfest...can you access the online version for free if you have a paper subscription, albeit only the w/e?
To suspend your subscription, you need to ring:The Australian Financial Review newspaper subscriptions: Telephone: 1800 646 990 (Monday to Friday 7am - 6pm AEST). Unless you have your subscription number (I suspect you don't), you have to wait a while to speak to a human to suspend delivery, at which time you can ask for your subscription number for future suspensions which can then be done quickly over the phone without the need to wait to speak to a human:idea:

Ahhh I live in a capital city!!

I still manage to get the Australian and the Courier Mail (from QLD) delivered daily, yet I can't get the AFR!!!

To be fair there is a news/fairfax split but seriously? Darwin isn't that far....

I am going to ask the obvious question, have you confirmed this by ringing or is it an assumption based on the vacant space where a paper should be every Saturday morning :)

News Ltd probably has a press in Darwin (I assume the NT News is printed locally) so your Australian and Courier Mail probably come from there. But when I was living an hour outside of Cairns, it wasn't possible to get an AFR at the local newsagent before about midday. Population of North Queensland is a fair bit denser than the NT so Fairfax might be skimping on coverage in the NT.

Thats a bold claim depending on whether it is intellectual capacity or population per square mile you are talking about :)

Having tagged myself with the moniker 'Fruitcake' I'm probably not well placed to defend myself!!!!

Yes the NT News is News LTD, and printed locally, they do not print CM or the Oz... these arrive on the Morning flights (about midday J* from BNE)

Scratch that theory then, thanks. So if the Monday CM and Oz arrive in town at midday on Monday, out of curiosity, when does your local newsagent do home delivery of those paper? Do they do an afternoon paper run? Or do you get the 'day old' paper on Tuesday morning?

One would assume any Fairfax papers come up on a similar flight.
