Since I've been a member here I've been navigating to /community/ to get to the forums.

This address now seems to redirect to the main page and you have to go to /community/forum.php

Clicking "Discussion Board" on the forum menu (not the top menu) also now redirects to the main page.

I'm hoping that this is a glitch and can be fixed :)

And clicking "whats new?" takes you to an Activity Stream rather than the newest posts... (ie. it shows the posts rather than the topics).

I've created a shortcut that takes me straight to the login screen without having to do multiple clicks from the "photo hogging" front page. Hate doing any more clicks that necessary.

I use the following bookmarked shortcut to go directly to "New Posts" without going via the menus:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/search.php?do=getnew

That still works.

However, I had had to change my "Discussion Board" link from:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/

to:

http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/forum.php

Changing the link was annoying but fairly simple, not sure why it’s necessary we have the "forum.php" on the end though? Surely it was always there but never required in the past?

Is this AFF's version of a QF's "enhancement"???

Unfortunately we are at the mercy of a) technical/implementation decisions we made ages ago when vBulletin was a very different product and b) vBulletin upgrades. The latest vBulletin upgrade included changes to the Navigation Bar which (because of the way AFF was originally implemented) necessatated using "forum.php" to get to the forum home page. As samh004 says it always there, but previously we could get around using it. The alternatives we had was to either not upgrade the software or change the way AFF uses vBulletin. Neither these options are really feasible.

I do apologise for any inconvenience - but it is a pretty minor one!

Actually it's really annoying me, especially as the bottom "discussion board" link (which I always use) goes to the site root.

If you're going to require forum.php use, can you at least change the script name for forum home page in AdminCP (Admin CP -> Settings -> vBulletin Options -> Forum Home Page Options) to 'forum' so that the navigation is right?

Of course my preferred option would be to rename the forum home script to index.php thus restoring functionality to how it was :)

Upgrading our core software - especially major upgrades, like yesterday - does involve some tweaking for our unique AFF setup + significant testing to ensure that all functions are working properly. If we missed something cosmetic which you find annoying I apologise. But, I'm not really sure what the problem is and what you find "annoying".

I'm happy to implement easy fixes to improve user experience and correct previously undetected problems. Please PM me the specifics and I will investigate - I'm not sure what you mean by the bottom "discussion board" link. Changing a script name has impacts across the whole site (not just the forum) and is something we try to avoid.

What might be the chance that when clicking on "Whats New?" that it goes back to the old list, the new "Activity Stream" view really isnt doing anything for me :(

I use Search Results - The Australian Frequent Flyer Online Community

It gets me "What's New"

I've had it in my chrome bookmark bar for so long. It just works.

Thank you Thank you! It works!

I really don't like the way the What's New Tab displays the threads now, this link took me back to the "old" display! Just so much easier to decide which threads are of interest to read.

It certainly is annoying having to type the full URL on public computers, eg in lounges. I am going to set up my own redirect when I get home I think.
