I am F*(Kin starting to hate this bank with passion

Don't stress out over points.... I don't think its worth it.
Have a laugh about it, if you get one extra month. then its a nice little parting gift for me and CBA. If not, nothing major.

yeah, I know,

my spending has increased by up to 3-4 fold and I plan to prebuy gift cards as well, so just want the longest period to pay it off.....

ill give the bank another call since as expected they didn;t call me back

I got a completely new cards because I changed the statement date.
I received my first dual cards in NOV...then found out that I won't be enjoying the Jan transactions (as my previous statement closing date falls on 3rd of Feb). So I requested a change of statement date.

A 2nd set of cards sent out to me with new numbers and a new statement date. In which I double checked with them today my new statement day will fall in Jan. (So I get 1 extra month of the promotion and I can enjoy the re-newed cap) :)

so was your new statement date a certain date or when you activated it??? cos I will have to activate it on the 24th because most liekly the call centre will be closed on the 25th

Has anybody signed up with another VISA/MC credit card provider that gives 1 QFF point/dollar ?

Anyone tried the card services direct Gold MC ? I think they are an offshoot of Citibank.

Diesellife,

well, im just as confused as before..

ive had my new cards for a week or two,

taking your advice, i waited until christmas eve to activate them in case the call centre is not open for the next few days,

first person I spoke to said that the replacement cards with new numbers are activated upon sending them out, and that the old cards should be inactive ages ago, funny thing is that i had just used the card 30 mins before, and ive had the new cars for a week or two.

ignoring him, so i asked to have the new cards activated, which he went through the process ( i thought it strange that you would have to activate a card that according to him was already activated upon sending out)

anyway, since I activated the cards, I asked well will the new ones be active or not, and if they are active for how long, he said that they will be inactive immediately, and then he double checked and said "oh don't worry about the old cards, the new cards are active anyway" to which I interpreted to be "ive got NFI!"

so I asked will my netbank represent the new numbers, and he said yes, the new numbers should be active now when I log in, to which he checked..

24 hours later, my old card is still working, my new card, haven't used it but I did a pin change at an atm, and my netbank is still showing old numbers, and old statement date........

and i still don't even know if all of this commotion has allowed me to change my statement date! since I ve heard such conflicting info by these specialists!

how can CBA get it sooooo wrong..

Merry xmas

The new set of cards are now showing on my Netbank as I activated it yesterday. Called CBA and they advised that the statement date for the new cards fall on 28 of Jan :) So one extra month for me to earn points... plus I can enjoy the new cap too :)

So all I have to do now is to find expenses worth of $40000 before 28 of Jan to reach the first tier cap :) and get 120000 points. YAY!!!

Sounds like a bit of negative logic to me :!:

Nah...just planning for the first 4 months of 2010...

I have a few coming expenses that I need to organise anyway.
Eg. DONE4 in March and a couple of business expenses...

I need to work out which of those will be most efficient to pay it now and put it on the CBA "Great Rate" :)

HA hA, the amount of CBA F"Ups is getting quite amusing,

I asked for duplicate/supp cards to be sent out about 1 week ago,

today they arrived, and they are the old numbers once again...

and I was promised that the new numbers would show up on my netbank immediately (he even said that when he checked they had already updated), 1 week later, still the same, no new numbers, no statement date...

Stupid credit card specialist hasn;t called back....

On the phone to these retards again..

EDIT: OMFG... so ive now got 3 copies of my old credit card numbers, and 1 set of new credit card numbers, and the current credit card specialist is now asking "did you go into a branch to fill out in a form?" i say NO, he says, well you need to go in and fill out a form, I say aboslutele BS, the last 4 specialists have never mentioned this, and then I ask "well ive never filled out a form why the hell do I have 2 sets of cards with different numbers if Ive never filled out a form"...." I dunno, let me put you on hold for 30 mins"

SOPOOR - have a read of the advice below again... you are taking this way too seriously and stressing yourself out! Just relax, if you get the additional points, then great. If not then don't worry about it.

yeah, maybe you are right, but I just wanted to really try and get my free holiday.....(maybe thats why im stressing, cos I needed one)

UPDATE: well, I escalated to the supervisor who said the same thing and was adament about it, she said you needed to go into a branch and fill in paper work, and she repeated that she was right and knew what she was talking about, I told her to check again, and WHOOSH the new numbers came up on online banking and that the old cards were not working, and she told me that the statement date had changed to 20th of Jan

so I jumped online immediately while she was on the phone to check, sure enough the numbers had changed, the statement date is blank, and it appears that something has been done.

So I got back to her and said, "don't you feel you look a bit silly that you were preaching that you were right but yet you did what I have been asking for weeks over the phone when you said I needed to visit a branch"

After many excuses, without one apology, I asked if she could manage to send out new CORRECT cards without stuffing it up, to which she obligied , the conversation was ended,

now, I realised that the replacement amex card still had the old amex numbers on it when the MC had the new numbers on it, so it looks like I will be out of an amex until early jan........ bummer.

also, for some reason my availalbe credit has gone up by $10,000 odd, with the balance $0. so maybe (wishful thinking) that they waived my balance as a sign of good faith:D

Congratz...you finally did it :)
Balance transfer take a few days to transfer over. So make sure you don't go over the limit during that time, otherwise a $25 penalty for you.

Don't get too excited. I'm sure it will all be back to normal fairly quickly. :(

well I hope so, ive already been sent both my new numbered MC and Amex card together, but I just realised today that the numbers on the Amex are the old ones, but when I log in, I have new ones, so I will be out of an Amex card for another 1.5 weeks or so, and since my old statement date is the 4th or something, if the new statement date has NOT kicked in or if ive been told some other more BS by CBA, then i may not have an opportunity to use it again before the promo finishes!

i could probably bet a kidney or too that it will revert back to normal sooner or later!

UPDATE: the correct balance has updated...oh well, I was debt free for about 3 days, it was good.

Now it says,

Previous statement closing balance 25/01/2010 $0.00

so I assume that I basically have to make all of my purchases before the 25th of Jan, to get 3 QFF per $1 spent on Amex and 1QFF per $1 on MC/Visa, does this sound about right?

Well, my statement date falls on the 3rd of each month and I have now stopped using the CBA Amex Plat and Visa Plat since new year’s eve as any points in Jan will be “halved”.

From now on I’m using my Amex RM (soon to be platinum) and fee free Citibank Visa Plat.

CBA will no longer earn any credit card commission from me anymore.

Id do the same as well,

I will pretty much stop using the Mastercard becuase of the stupid ratio, which is the same as the standard and gold cards,

I will continue to use the AMEX CBA for amex purchases,

unfortautneyl, I doubt I would be able to apply and get another platinum amex or Visa with a 1:1 ratio due to income etc.

hence, I really have no choice but to stay on this one,

a family member also has the citibank plat fee free for life so I might see if I can become an additional card holder and pray to god it remains at 1:1

well done CBA, ive been a CBA customer all my life and you've finally convineced me not to use you at all....mortgage, credit cards, savings account will all be transfered away slowly.

Well, after 14 days of the year passed, I've reached my yearly cap of points (on the 3>1 rate) already. Absolute piss poor.

I'll be getting rid of this card in Feb I think.

As an FYI.. If anyone is spending up big on the promo rate:
The 3>1 ratio is only applicable to 120K QFF points.
After that, its 1>1

Total cap is 200,000 QFF points per year. Not even a J Class to LHR..

:) Better than Amex's supermarket bonus...
