Hi everyone

Planning our renovations so considering a combi steam oven.

Interested to know the collective thoughts on this kitchen appliance... especially AFFs are known for their love of great food..

So do people find them useful? compared to conventional ovens?
Which do you have? and why?

Have been looking at the ASKO Proseries, Miele and now VZUG...

Thanks for the opinions

I have an ilve steam oven. Not a combi I have to confess that I am yet to crack it up. However I have a big weekend of cooking planned ( in 3 weeks) where a chef friend is coming over to demo and educate me. As the proud owner of 2 more ovens and sous vide I am definitely in the camp of " you can never have too many ovens"!

My weekend plans got pushed out to next weekend.
I'm sitting in the AKL F lounge contemplating the experience. :)

Used mine (properly) first time today. It worked really well. Mrs GPH liked the precise nature of the cooking times. We tried a few things. Cooked from frozen Chinese prawn shumai , then we did a fish dish wrapped in paperbark, flavored with leek, carrot and chili, and "cranberries". ( I know. Who would have thought?!). Anyway it was really good, clean taste. Cooked perfectly. We then did the veg to go with the roast. And to follow, for pudding, individual steamed pudding. It all worked very well. Bear in mind , my oven is not a combi, do not as versatile as yours I suspect. Definitely a great investment. And cleaning is simple too.

I believe the Miele Combi is actually a very good oven , and they have the best recipe book too
