So I thought this must have been where I was going wrong with the Beauty cards and why I was getting a surcharge. Used it again today and made sure to press Savings not Credit. Still had a surcharge

Actually, I have been using the EFTPOS gift cards from Coles from a few weeks ago, so I have been pressing SAV, yet, I had been to so many shops where their EFTPOS would add 30c. I know that the cost to a merchant, by most banks, for EFTPOS, is only 10c. These EFTPOS terminals from memory are not from banks, but from some independents.

So it's not the gift cards, but it's just the whole card surcharge is getting out of hand. RBA had released their new proposal on card surcharge today, but that's off topic ......

TCN Restaurant gift cards can be used at:

• 5812: Eating Places, Restaurants
• 5813: Bars, coughtail Lounges, Discotheques, Nightclubs, and Taverns: Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages)

Officially, TCN Restaurant gift cards cannot be used at ‘5814: Fast Food Restaurants’ but for some reason this limitation does not seem to apply to the digital version. You can convert your physical TCN Restaurant card into a digital one here so that you can add it your mobile wallet (e.g. Apple Pay).

If the last three years are any indication then this could be the last Apple offer at Coles until late October as they always stop running them around the time the new iPhones are released. If you prefer to earn Flybuys/Velocity points then it might be a good idea to stock up now.
