Coles gift card offers

Thanks for your reply Dr Ralph.

Last time, we were able to use multiple eGift Cards (Suncorp doesn’t offer them in high denomination) to pay for 5 MC gift cards together, at a staffed checkout. At the self serve checkout, I think what you noted is applicable. In fact, even a SIM card counts as a gift card and means you can’t pay with a gift card at self serve checkouts.

I’ve been doing somewhat similar to you, with the addition of a numbers spreadsheet in my phone which is shared with my partner. I just wondered whether there was a better way, as it’s quite time consuming to keep the balance up to date and to use all the small left over amounts.
And again yesterday and today, my partner and were able to pay for 5 $250 CMCGC’s with multiple Coles eGift Cards. Went through staffed checkouts - yesterday operator initially said can’t pay for gift cards with gift cards and when i advised we had recently done it in that store, he said he’d try and it worked. Partner did it gain today in a different store. Definitely does not work at self serve checkouts - I’ve got stuck before.

Are you trying to use more than 5 in a day?

No can't get any to work. Cards are activated and worked in person at local cafe. Did one test payment with my Visa and that went through fine...

Will try again tomorrow. thanks

The promotional banners in stores do state that Coles Mastercard gift card cannot be used to purchase any other gift cards in Coles, and in bold. These didn't seem to be around in previous promo's banners.

Correct. But you can do this, as long as staff don't notice/enforce the term. I've been buying Coles/Myer gift cards and Amazon gift cards at Coles and WISH card at Woolworths with many of the Coles gift Mastercards I've purchased so far. I am getting rid of all of them within 24 hours.

Yes I am fully aware. Just letting you guys know that it's a new addition in the T&C. I got noticed and stopped by a hawk while checking out, and was pointed to the T&C. Couldn't challenge and just left and move on to next store. You win some and lose some.

You could also buy Coles Myer Gift Cards from Myer.

Wondering if anybody has used one to buy a Perfectgiftcard eftpos card?
No, but:
1) I can't see why it wouldn't work. I have used them at Woolworths and Cole to buy other gift cards.
2) I wont be doing this. The fee eats into the profit margin too much for me. Also it's easier to get rid of a coles gift mastercard vis a vis a perfect gift card

Thanks Doc, Thought it probably would, but not sure as you are technically buying money with credit, and I have found some companies are able to block these cards somehow, just thought someone may have done it.
Agree on the fee, was only thinking along the lines of maxing a variable limit card which would minimise the fee, shouldn't have any trouble flushing out the cards I have anyway. Good to see plenty of $250 cards around. Just about to go and get another batch.

Perfect GCs used to be rinseable but Aus Post closed that loophole :(

When buying the Mastercards at a self checkout, can I do split payment with multiple credit cards without staff needing to approve it?

I know that you can't do split payment with eGift cards at a self checkout but I'm not sure if its the same with credit cards.

Do not split payment buying gift cards ever.

Had a win today. Popped into my local coles which only had a smattering of $100 cards at lunchtime on Wednesday and to my delight they had about 15 $250 cards. Might go back later tonight and see how many they have left.

Still a fair few $100 around
Just went into a store and the lady at till said she has a box of new stock and is just waiting for her supervisor to come out of a meeting before opening. Wouldn't be surprised if other stores are receiving replenishment to stop the $50 ones looking lonely

I've got all that I wanted this time around. So you're safe to visit the Wollongong area stores. I left plenty on the shelves.
