Coles gift card offers

Note that if you are using the self serve machines you can't split the payment so the value of the cards you are buying needs to be less than the value of the card you are paying with - ie you can't buy say 3x $100 cards using $250 card and another card.

Why even show them what card you are using?
I selected gift card payment & an error came up, the bloke came up & I explained but he saw my form of payment using another gift card.
I'll do it correctly next time (card payment) & be more discreet.

At a staffed checkout there's no need to select the payment method.

I just go to a staffed checkout, they scan them all and I ask to split the payment. “1st card $250 please” etc and they never seem to have any idea what is happening.

Fully used cards into an empty pocket then the final card with a residual of up to $93.50 back in the wallet. Easy.

Hmm k, staffed checkout they just hit card payment basically by default as your holding/ briefly hold the card.
Got it, give it another go tonight.
Thanks
Worked just now, at self checkout, had to ask to pay individually but no issue.
head back in the morning as have scattered a few $250's around the store behind what I think are slow selling items!

Flybuys have credited 😀
(Know some don't like to do as it stuffs up spend discount offers)

The thousands of flybuys are the cherry on top of this one.

And as a data point I have never had this effect my offers in any meaningful way. They’ve stayed ok despite buying a lot of cards each time.

The end of this type of offer is nigh when the DailyMail runs a story on it!

I'm pretty sure this will be the last of this type of 10% offer (unless there are more dumb purchasers leaving breakage than I can believe).

Finding many stores seem to have moved all $250 cards to the front service desk. If you find there are none on the shelves I’d suggest asking at the service desk. Have had success with this and also found staff willing to let me buy more for Mrs NoName.

Apparently there's none left in Australia for stores to order from head office. What's left in the stores (if any) is it.

Found some this morning. Went to service desk. Although asked to put through individually, cashier put through all five. Paid with yellows but 😲 one card didn't activate. Staff became aware I was recycling-refused a cash refund. Can't see a sensible way of getting back the $250 (though I don't think it technically breaches T&Cs)
Win some, lose some
Have hit the offer pretty hard so I'm still well up 😀

Yeah I was thinking if it's not against any T&C's, why would any coles staffer object & refuse the sale. I mean what leg do they have to stand on??

I'll be heading back to my local coles at lunch to go again as was successful this morning.

Staff I saw said they had been told by head office it wasn't on.
While I could fight it, I've broken enough of the spirit (and bought many times more than 5) I think would end up with egg on face

The boxes that these get shipped in have also changed. With the previous version they used to come in a small grey rectangular box and contained approx 25 or 30. Boxes now a lot longer and look like they would fit perhaps 100 cards. Anyone confronted with an empty shelf and having a peak inside the cabinet for more, this is what you are looking for:

EDIT: each of those little packets contain 10 cards.

If they made the limit 10 and just put out those little packets it would be easier for everyone I’m sure. ;)

I haven't found any at any of the 3 stores I have tried today (all were good for $100 cards yesterday). Sadly none in the cupboards either (although one store had several boxes of the old style cards). I only asked at the service desk at the last store and they didn't have any. Alas the game is up.
