So I booked an AB flight LHR to TXL in Y expecting at checkin I would get fast tracked through security and boarding as advertised on the plat benefits for VA website.

BA operates the AB flights on that leg and despite me explaining to the BA gatekeeper that AB would recognise my plat and as they are representing AB they should also - no avail.

No fast track no additional luggage and to top it off ptnr and I not seated together.

Not happy

Sigh

Benefits are only applicable to flights marketed and operated by a partner.

AB is a nasty LCC. Just be grateful that you weren't delayed by ~6 hours, then taken by bus to another airport ~1 hour away, flown on an SunAdria clunker and that your bags actually arrived. Yes, this all happened to me on AB and subsequent flights with them have been no better.

I agree with Markis10, VA WP benefits only apply to flights that they (AB) operate.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Sorry but isn't Air Berlin a one world airline? Wouldn't you be better as a Qantas Platinum?

They are, but due to the investment by EY, they are also a VA partner. But in this case the flight was operated by BA, so the OP would have been better off as a QF WP.

Wow, thanks for the info on this thread, crossing them off my list of experiences ... :(
