Hi,

I want to use pts for a classic award business class SYD To LAX, however when I log in to search for the award there are no business award seats available on the day I wish to travel. My question is, if I ask a family member who is CL to ring and book for me will they be able to get me a business class seat? Also, should I get the primary CL member to do the booking or their spouse (who has a card also, I assume because they are the spouse), or it doesn't matter?

Cheers in advance.

They will have more chance than you so worth a shot, nothing is guaranteed though.

I would think a CL is a CL as far as the yield management approvals go.

They can only use their points to do the booking though - not yours.

No problem with them using their points.
Has anyone had any experience with this? I'm hoping the answer is that as long as there is a spare business class seat (there is) that QF will do it.

Another reason is when you want to go, if its within next 9 months have little chance at low points burn.

Use one of the flight availability tools on the web to check for J fare bucket availability on the flights you are looking at for those dates or near around. I don't have the links, sorry, but you can find them throughout the threads.

Date is Sat 12th October.

Both QF107 (744) and QF11 (A380) are showing J9 C9 D9 I9 which means even the cheapest biz class seat is showing maximum availability. I would expect a CL would be able to get an award released.

As a comparison as a P1 I was able to get three Biz seats released on QF1 a few weeks ago - that is now showing J9 C9 D8 I0.

I wouldn't be hanging around...

It won't matter if you get the primary or secondary CL to book for you. Have you asked them if they can see availability when they search through their FF log in?

QF will have different award availability depending on the status of the person logged in. You may not need to call and ask for anything to be released!
