Citibank Signature replaced wih Visa Infinite (but not Prestige)

Not generally worth it. From memory 2:1. They had a double points bonus recently, which made it borderline for aspirational redemptions (CM Rangali).

That redemption next year is what I am looking at. I believe that transfer rate is from the Prestige card and so therefore may not be applicable to the new Infinite card? ie. could be worse.

I received the upgrade too on my fee free for life.
Am I right though that points are now capped at $20000 spend per month, so I was planning on reducing my limit from 60k - 20 k but maybe 30 is the lowest I can go to keep the infinite

I received an e-mail from Citibank a couple of months ago, offering me double points for the month of March (max 10,000 bonus points) if I accepted their offer of increasing the credit limit on my Signature card from $15K to $30K before the end of February. Ignored it.

Last week I received a follow-up 'phone call from them about it. The operator was persistent, but polite. I was just as persistent and polite in declining.

Interestingly enough my wife got the same offer. But did not act immediately.

She rang up later to accept as we had some Uni frees to pay. She was told that despsye it not being end of Feb that the offer had closed.....but also said that she could have the 10K bonus anyway :) The 10K came through quickly too and so we were able to transfer at the old rate.

Received the new Rewards Infinite visa card today... Not sure about it.
Really don't understand why I was changed from the signature (fee free for life), and what the benefits of this card is (I am happy with SPG, and don't need an overpriced limo service).

Why isn't there any information about this card online? At least let us know if we get the other infinite benefits.

Honestly, they're just trying to pick up higher interchange fees.

I would not trust Citibank as far as I could throw them. I have the Signature fee free for life. Call me skeptical, but if they send me an Infinite as a replacement, I'll see it as a sneaky way for them down the track to start charging an annual fee and pointing to the fact that I now have an Infinite, which I activate and hence don't have a Signature anymore, and the fee free offer only applies to the Signature. Before I activate it, I'll be calling them and insisting they send me an agreement which clearly states that it is fee free, much like I have the agreement which states the Signature is fee free.

For your information, I got an official reply from Citibank via secured email. I have annual fee waived for life Signature so I asked if I will be charged by activating the Infinite. Answer shown below

Thank you for your email.

For your reference, once you have activated your Visa Infinite cad, you
will no longer be able to use your Visa Signature card. You should
activate your new Visa Infinite card online as soon as you can.

Further to your email, your Annual fee will remain unchanged.

If there is anything else we can do to assist you, please let us know
and we will be happy to help.

Thank you for using the Citibank Australia Website.

Yours sincerely,

Hi all.

Can someone please post the link to register for the HHonors gold after two stays? I found a generic link but it didnt work even when I tried to just review the site and T&Cs. I stupidly threw out my letter.

cheers

Lazy mode: If you don't activate they send you a text after a few days, you just need to reply to activate.

Sticker on the front of the card leaves a mess, no longer says "signature" anywhere and retains boring generic blue design.

Expiry date remains the same which is a double-edged sword.

I also received the card after I came back from overseas.

Given the numbers and expiry date are identical, why should I activate and uses these new card, when there are minimal additional benefits?

I mean, people without these new cards would still earn the same number of points as I do with these new cards.

The question is though, if I don't activate these new cards, would Citibank automatically cancel my existing cards?

Does anyone know if we can just ignore and not activate the new cards and just keep using the fee free for life Citi Sig cards to their expiry date?

Can't see why not. It's a valid card until that date.

The benefits appear to be all for Citi in higher interchange rates, they have reciprocated by lowering the point earn rate so I'm figuratively raising the middle finger to them by reducing my limit to the minimum ($15k) and not activating the new card until expiry.

It now sits idle in my wallet replaced by a different uncapped 1:1 card which shall remain nameless.

I have gone from churning $30-50k a month on this card to $0 but they haven't noticed. Didn't even bat an eyelid when I reduced my credit limit and the call lasted 30 seconds. Que sera sera.

I've been unmotivated about activating my card too. I got two sms messages nagging me to activate it, but it's been a few weeks now and I haven't activated it yet.

I haven't activated the new card yet either, but did appreciate the free upgrade to Hilton Gold last week :)

Does anyone know if you can add the $49 qantas rewards program fee onto the $0 signature card? A $49pa $1:1 card might be more useful to me!

Yes but the capping is awful.

"1 Qantas point per $ earned on spend capped to $3,000 per statement period, 0.5 Qantas points per $ after, and 1 Qantas point per $ uncapped on international spend"

Wow. How'd I miss that. Definitely won't be my primary card!

Mine now collects dust.
