A few days later I received a rejection letter. No request for further info or anything.
Second rejection now from CITI.

I must have offended them!
How long ago was your last Citi-backed application?

How long ago was your last Citi-backed application?

February, last approval and then a Virgin rejection around May.

I have read elsewhere in these forums they like a six to nine month gap at least...

I did not think I would let them beat me however!

I think you'll find that experiences differ. There is no absolute rule on this.

I am aware of members that have had 4 or more Citibank issued cards in a 12 month period.

So do we know for sure if holding cards like the Qantas and Virgin Money would disqualify from getting the points?
My last Citi branded credit card was a couple of years back but I do still hold a Virgin card and previously had the Qantas Money one.

No, I've had the Qantas Money whilst applying for and receiving the bonus points for this card a few months back. That said there is plenty of other criteria to accept or reject.

To Dr. Ralph's previous post, I'm one of those that have received 4 Citi cards in a 12 month period (not all at the one time) but at least 2 most of the time.

"$199 annual card fee in the first year (normally $395)
but current offer is actually first year free. not 199$.
"$0 annual card fee in the first year (normally $395), with an annual $49 fee for the Citibank Qantas Rewards Program"
Subject to your acceptance you will not be billed an annual card fee in the first year. This will revert to the full annual card fee, currently $395, in subsequent years. An additional annual fee of $49 will apply for enrolling in the Citi Qantas Rewards Program. This offer is valid until 31 January 2020.

Hi All,

I applied for this card using the link on the Qantas website. Was approved and the card and documentation has just arrived in the mail. None of the documentation seems to have anything about the bonus points. I was just wondering if this is normal, or I have gotten the wrong card or something. The card itself says "citi premier". Documentation says "Citi Rewards Signature Credit Card". It does have $0 fee and $395 on anniversary and $49 for Qantas.

I just want to avoid spending up on the card if I am not going to get the points.

Cheers,

Adrian

IME, the welcome packs never mention any sign on bonus. It all hangs on your screenshots of exactly what you for applied and the T&Cs.

Normal. Happens with many banks.

If there is a problem in the future, rely upon the screen shots you took when you applied.

Timely reminder to actually take those screen shots/PDF of what you apply for!

Yes I agree also with the previous responses. A bank (or credit card provider) can have many different bonus offers at once, for example;
  • General public website may offer say 50k points
  • Click via (say PointHacks) and get 60k points
  • Click via referal and get 70k points and 20k points for referrer.
The credit card provider won't want to customize all the different points offering so just send a standard boiler template letter along with T's and C's of the card which generally don't alter over a long period of time despite the many offerings either at the same time or semi frequently.

Nothing to worry about, but do have your evidence handy if needed.

I took no screenshots during the application. Is this something I can do now since the offer is still valid? I can get a shot of the current conditions and I should be able to prove the time frame of my application. I have never had trouble getting bonus points in the past, but I think in the past the intro letter has normally spelt out the conditions of the bonus points and that was not the case this time. I have done so with Amex, ANZ, Westpac in the past.

My method of application was to click and follow the links from the Qantas credit card comparison page.

I had the same concerns, and rang to try and confirm I had the QF card, given there was no indication of this in the welcome pack, on the card, or on my online account.
I was told I did, but wasn't convinced.
QF points incl bonus posted no problems.

Engage Citi's online chat feature, get the answer you're seeking and have the chat transcript emailed to you.

So I assume that because there's no exclusion clause about recently held card, I'll still receive bonus points! Please correct if I'm wrong to assume.

If you have been accepted for the card under the promotional link offered and there is nothing in the T's and C's saying anything about exclusion (which I can't recall if Citi have done or not) then I would be thinking you would be good for points.

Best way however is to get online with chat or call them to confirm this, but I would assume you are OK.

I applied for this card on the weekend, got approved today after a straight forward process of providing a payslip. Have never had a citi product before. Any experience on how long its likely to take to get the bonus points after I hit the min spend?

My experience with a Citi-backed card was that points posted at the end of the statement period in which you achieve minimum spend. That was with the Virgin Money Flyer.

I cancelled this card and a Qantas Premier card 12 months ago for mortgage approval. Applied for virgin card 3 months ago (still open) and this card last week.

was approved in a few days, still awaiting card in the mail though.

Have a Squizzy Taylor upthread. Most report quick payment. I like recent poster have been paid the point in the month minimum spend hit.
