I was thinking of getting this Citibank select Visa signature card (annual fee of $700) as we all know the Krisflyer plat card has dropped down to 1/2 point for everydollar spent on the credit card (CC) except for amex which is 1.5 points to SQ

Since Citibank select Visa signature card program says that you get two points for every dollar spent. 1.5 rewards point = 1 krisflyer point, hence 1.333 krisflyer points for every 2 rewards points= 1 dollar spent. Just confirmed citibank call centre.

So will this be the best card for this purpose. Please let me know of any other card will offer similar redemption or better. I don't believe so. But if anyone can tell me otherwise it would be greatly appreciated! Then I can cancel my other cards.

regards,

Susan

I think you will get one point per dollar into Kris. The call centre can still give you 3 different answers if you call them 3 times. It is not like Amex nor Woolies EDR where you get a list to check off if you wish.....so far I have a chunk of points in a total....nothing else,no reconciliations,no bonus listings...They buggered up the account opening so the points that were supposed to go to Kris are warehoused by Citi and I could now transfer them to a list of airlines but not Qantas. When I get back to Australia I will try to reconcile points to spend.By the way after 2 months I had zero points so a supervisor had a shot at it and posted an unexplained figure.....after 3 phone calls.Too big to fail is why Citi is still here with us!

No I think I've seen it somewhere on their website as well. It says that 1.5 points for 1 krisflyer.

so this has got to be the best one or not if that is the case. 1.33 Krisflyer for 1 dollar spent. Better than any other cards in the market? I am specifically talking the Visa Signature prgram.

I think for the equivalent qantas points I think you are better off with SQ. SQ business class is equivalent to economy qantas. So I rather stick with Sing esp they fly straight my destination of choice (AMSTERDAM) Second best A/L so cant complain with that LOL

Thanks for the reply.

I love your other reply to me BTW

Had a closer look tonight and so far Citi has given two Citi points for the dollars put on the card but the bonus points for Kris obviously never turned up because they messed that bit of the enrollment up on day zero. They are a couple of thousand short plus 60,000 Kris points missing.Mrscove gets a point a dollar to Qantas on her Citi Select and it is working ok now.

I think they are not giving away the bonus points 60,000 any more which is a shame! maybe I should call them and ask for it.
Just got my plat orig charge card AMEX and that was 75,000 bonus pnts and that really helps to go to my biz class one way to Amsterdam this end of July so it's so worth paying 900 bucks for the first year. Can always cancel if don't see value next yr.

Hello Impactz,I will try a redemption once I have the Amex Velocity card running as my third program(back up).SQ is really good and so is Qantas.Amsterdam,Paris and Manchester are all wonderful places to use as starting points for Europe and England. If it is 1.33 conversion that will be very nice for endless travel with SQ Kris points.I am doing the A380 SQ in J on Tuesday and Mrscove is in First on a QF747. We both get to Perth within half an hour. When I post often I am smiling as it is a fun game.

You can you call me Susan

Anyhow i try to only use Saver biz redemption. I even know how their system works but the new website has changed a lot and can't really see what is available. so call up centre and they still honor the 15% off so that is even better. Never really like Qantas as their points are too expensive. Suppose that is what you get for having Aussies workers as oppose to their Asian counterparts.

I am a frugal biz class traveller LOL

but you seems like you are going all out! How do you do you it?

Aren't we all Susan - aren't we all - well at least for those of us who pay for our own flights anyway

cove is a legend Susan - I am sure when he lays his head down to sleep at night he immediately goes into 'maximising FF points redemption' mode - follow his posts - he is a legend.

Oh and on that point regarding KF points 2CR/$1 / 1.5CR/1KFpt = 1.33KFpt/$1 spend - agent I spoke to told me she would put that in writing before I activated the card - I would get on the phone and get that done without hesitation.

OMG LOL I think I just beat him to his own game LOL with the Citibank Select visa signature card. Not that I have one as yet but that deal seems so far the best rewards card for all my intending purposes with SQ. by far the best redemption for SQ.

I do believe it is as it states that on their website as 1.5 point = 1 SQ point hence 2 points=1.33 SQ

I have been following him. It seems like he applies for every card that gives him all the F/F points under the sun. Good on him.

Oh I don't pay for my business class tickets. Only on redemption. I don't think paying for like 10k-15k to europe is justifiable when I can do it with points. Especially when it works out even if I have to pay surcharge around 1k-2k for the business ticket. Doesn't seem fair does it but then again its to my advantage so I can't complain

Re: citibank select- visa signature card will this give me the best redemption pnt fo

It all started with my need to travel out of Perth, doctor,to get to Melbourne and Sydney. Then I liked Los Angeles and London, doctor, so I tossed in Las Vegas and New York.Actually the biggest sources of points came from js reporting that taxes could be paid as a trial to the Taxation Office so that turbo charged my inexpensive travelling ideas using points as a currency. Having two main groups of points has really, really helped avoid getting stuck somewhere and that has eliminated the need to buy tickets.I make mistakes and try to learn from them as I am moving as many as 5 in one trip but not on the same plane. My family think it is a bit quirky but they seem to enjoy the seats to get somewhere.Naturally I will be very happy if the Citi reward points redeem at 1.33 into SQ Kris points Susan !

So how many credit cards have you got by now. I only tend to stick to the ones I am most happy with. Although I know for a fact that applying every six months won't do you harm when it comes to credit file if your file is flawless. Amex Velocity seems pretty decent.
So how can you claim tax on these ff points for business purposes? how do they work considering they are points rewarded?

Re: citibank select- visa signature card will this give me the best redemption pnt fo

It goes like this for Mrscove and myself for points earning:Two Amex Ultimate cardsTwo Citi Select cards of different rewardsTwo Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer cards but we only use the AmexOne Woolworths Everydayrewards card (Mrscove feels maxed out with cards)Then there is an Amex Velocity in the works and a US Amex point a dollar card to cut out all the fees in foreign transactions and earn pointsTax advice is a separate field as is foreign exchange and financial planning so keep close with a professional in those areas as I have retired from my previous lifeI was most proud of my 19 year old getting a Woolworths card this year!

Re: citibank select- visa signature card will this give me the best redemption pnt fo

I set that one out properly on my IPAD2 but it re-sets when it posts. That makes it hard to read seeing I didn't use full stops and the site editing is not working.

Hum did I mention I was a financial planner for five years? Yes I was and thinking going back to it again. I miss the relationships I had with my dear clients. Did I mentioned I worked for the big four banks almost all my adult live? Yes but the corporate rat race is not for me and I've been a lazy investor of properties pre/posT GFC and Just love how our banking system works. Especially our credit card rewards system and everything else in between. Love it love it. I eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. LOL Actually it's just a silly talent that GOD's given me. So I suppose I just have to live with it! That is why I want to video blog my journey this July GoBackToWhereIreallyCameFrom. A bit of a SBS twist (from my own perspective, wlaking in my own shoes and no one elses, b/c I was a daughter of a refugee, a happy one may I add) to do a continuation of their crazy refugee series that aired not too long ago. I wonder if they would want to do a story on me too, a real twist but i'll be flying biz class so hum not sure that would fit in! LOL

Re: citibank select- visa signature card will this give me the best redemption pnt fo

Ok Susan you could find someone who has a big BAS bill that they pay electronically and take over the management role. You would never be home as you would now be worrying about the 3 year expiry of your SQ Kris points and you would be travelling in style. You might be able to make more being a frequent flyer point consultant now that trailing commissions are in the current government sights!

Hey the ATO allows for the credit card payment now so you can even rack up more points than ever before and they also take AMEX! surcharge though but for what it is you can fly J class forever if you have that much tax bill?! LOL

Are you offering me a job? I'll take it and you have to be a part of my video blogging series agree? Fly in style thanks to our great credit card rewards system! To those who knows how to use it to their advantage! LOL

Re: citibank select- visa signature card will this give me the best redemption pnt fo

Haven't got the Citi Bank card, but wife and I have 6 CC's between us inc deals like Amex 75K Plat plus ANZ Plat 20K points, pay taxes using another Amex @ 1.5p to each $1, use Amex at PO big time, Bunnings, BP, restaurants, Woolies and shopping card, racking up FFP like no tomorrow. Some people chase birds we chase FF points.

LOL oh by the sound of it you are great at what you do! you must visa sig program CC (not that I have one and they may not give it to me since i have a bal transfer of 3.99% for life citibank cc so not sure they'll give me another one in a hurry) as we were discussing 1.33 SQ = $1 SPENT must be the most impressive deal ever on the face of the earth besides AMEX (but cnt always use AMEX) for everything. Hope CC is not chasing you for their high crazy interest rate when you don't pay back in full when statement ends. FFP would just not be justified anymore! LOL
but reality is when it comes down to the crunch the only real deal you get out is to fly with points for everything else it's 'pricefull' not worth the redemption, well not when you compare it to redeeming points for vouchers. it's worth a tenth of redeeming straight with points to fly. You get what i mean?

Re: citibank select- visa signature card will this give me the best redemption pnt fo

The best part about this forum is you find others who just love using the system. I have just figured this months taxes so it is a merry go round for fiends. Pay the bills then fly then repeat that 12 times a year.I will test the SQ A380 on Tuesday in J . It should be pretty good. Mrscove is going QF in First off her Citi select and Amex Ultimate points.

Where are you going with SQA380? so you must be getting like standard redemption then, since they don;t offer saver on their J class. And where do you meet up for these places esp with the moderators? they weren't too happy with me with 3 same same posts first time. But I didn't know that as they considered as spamming. LOL oh I was wrapped when I got to pay for like 8k on rental every month via amex all that is going to stop soon! So sad so sad that is like a return biz to my fav destination Europe :-( every year! Dang!
