Hi All

Bit of a newbie here so apologies if this question appers a little dim. Have been trying to figure what the best FF programme for me would be and get the feeling that AAdavantge would be the best.

Have seen on these forums (and others) that there is a way of converting Oz CC spend to AA, this is done via AMEX rewards being transferred to SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) points and then transferred to AA.

Citibank however offer a range of credit cards throughout the world (UK included - International Credit Cards| Citi® / AAdvantage® Cards | Citi® Cards | Citibank) with direct links to AA - was wondering if anyone had queried whether that facility would be made available to Australian consumers.....?

If they have this option across multiple countires, and we have the access to Citibank card, I would have thought (globalisation being the way that it is) this would be a simple process for them to implement (i.e. instead of 1:1 conversion to QFF you do it to AA).

Anyone ever checked this out?? Get enough of us pestering Citibank and their may be a possibility they'd consider it??

G'day Avant, welcome to AFF. :)

I believe this has been checked out and for most Citi cards would not comply with the T&C of the card.

As for the second question, anything is possible, but in this case unlikely.

It was only a few years ago that AMEX MR point from an Oz account could be directly credited to AA. :(

Every 6 months I email citibank suggesting that their aussie CC,s should be able to transfer award points directly to AA or SPG and every 6 months a polite acknowledgement of my email but nary a result.

So serfty - are you saying that AMEX used to allow aussie CC holders to transfer directly to AA however now they don't??

Thanks for the welcome!

Hopefully some CC provider comes up with a better conversion rate for us aussies across to AA....I'll be doing my bit to make it happen! A combined assault of emails perhaps??
