Citibank 70,000 QFF points $149 annual fee first year 0% BT for 6 months

I received my card yesterday and activated it, no sign of anywhere to enter my qff number. Called and asked and he said he would enrol me in the Qantas program because all Citi signature cards come enrolled to their own rewards program automatically?

Queried this and he assured me that this was all normal and I would get my 70k points upon first spend. This worried me again, he obviously had no idea about the t&c's of my card. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Echoes my previous comments and experiences. You definitely do have to call to activate the QFF points accumulation. The problem will be later on they claim to have no record of this occurring.

Hence the strong warnings I have previously offered.

Citibank are inept. Often I think they deliberately lie to you.

Document everything and be prepared to fight.

Nothing is ever easy with Citibank.

This was my experience last time I had the card. Call up to activate it, supply QFF number at that time.
No problems.

I've called up Citibank and they have activated my new Citi Signature for QFF. I seem to recall that if they don't add your name correctly, it will fail to sweep the points out to QFF. The format they've used is:

LASTNAME,FIRSTNAME,MR

Does anyone whose points are sweeping without problem know if this is correct? You can check the format via Citi's online banking website.

In my case the sweep failed because Citi used "MR" as my christian name. They got the surname right .......... but it was not close enough for Qantas to accept.

So ............ I lost out on the Qantas sweep bonus points being offered several months ago & then got caught up 3 days later with Citi halving the points earn for Qantas redemptions.

I argued with Citi & they gave me 5000 "sorry" points as a bonus which got me about 80% of what I should have received.

I have since cancelled my CitiBusiness Card. A great card until the recent haircut.

Yeah, the mix up with the name is what got me into trouble last time and it took a couple of billing cycles for them to get it right. I guess I'm going to have to wait to see how this card fares with the first sweep in a couple of weeks' time. And agreed - I also had the CBG card and it was good while it lasted but the recent changes made it worthless to me.

Approx how long did approval take after applying? Tempted but will hold out a bit longer before committing.

I applied 7 days ago and my online status has gone from 'conditionally approved' to 'under review'. I've heard nothing from them and the payroll number I provided hasn't been called yet.

I had to call them after 8 days of no progress and they went through the process with me over the phone. Had to re-send a document they claimed was unreadable, was approved 24h later.

Applied 29/05 and sitting in conditionally approved... Guess I will call them mid this week if I don't hear anything.

I hope you have more success than me... Mine changed to 'under review' but I received my letter of rejection in the post today :( Just checked and still showing 'under review' online!?!

Applied around lunch time !!!
Got approved 30 mins back - confirmation text re approval and email received...

All in < a day !!! Hope that it's not a record with Citibank:D

Will call them tomorrow and provide QFF #...

Got a call from them to confirm some details yesterday and then said they would process my application. Basically as soon as the phone call ended I got the approved email and SMS.

Is this Qantas Signature Card the same product as the non-Qantas Signature Card? I currently have the fee free for life non-Qantas signature and I wonder if I can still get this 70k qff signature offer without losing my fee free card? Or do I need to close my fee free signature first?

After speaking with my relationship banker at Citi, I understand that to get the 70k it has to be a new application. I was advised to fill in the application form and put a note that, if approved, I will cancel the existing Citi card.

Of course, once you have the 70k points you can always change your mind and keep the old card.;)

Also, I was told that if you are a CitiGold customer, they are currently waiving the fee on the Signature; not sure if this is for one year or permanently.

I will report back if I get further clarification.

Thanks JV. Do you currently have the non QFF signature card? Did you make the application in the end?

unfortunately I am not citiGold. Happy with $149 for 70k qff

Does anyone know if I currently have a Citi Signature how long I have to wait after cancelling before reapplying to be considered a "new customer" to get the bonus points?

Seems that you were correct. Received the rejection letter too. I've never been approved for a Citi card (last time I applied was 2014). My wife seems to get them however, even with somewhat less income.
