over the counter at a post office. took me 10mins.

Hi, thanks to the OP and for all of the helpful comments. As stated above it is an offer on the main website and everything is pretty clear.

Did you choose VISA or MC, and is there any practical difference in relation to points or offers? As I'm keeping another Gold Visa just in case this is no good, I chose MC but have noticed some promos from time to time on one or the other.

Thanks again - it would be nice to get it approved and get 1:1 rewards :)

Hi guys,

I found this forum while googling for "gold card no fee". I checked out the citibank website but I cannot find the no-fee offer. I used the link provided in this forum but it directed me to the citibank main page. I guess the offer is over, isn't it? and I've missed out. :(

Have existing Citibank credit card holders been able to get around this condition?

Considering applying for this card since the offer is still available - anyone have any more feedback on the process? Problems? All good? How has it worked out so far?

My experience:
Applied for the offer via the mentioned link. The summary sheet at the end of the application quoted a membership fee of $119, so I was a little concerned (and prepared to argue if they enforced it).
A couple of days later I have a call from a gent in India asking if I had applied and getting my to confirm my details. He asked which offer I used (I told him the one on the web for the fee free card).

A week after that my card (and the partner card) arrived with an acceptance letter indicating an annual fee of $0 for both primary and partner card.

Activated the card that night, used it the next day, then filled in the 100 point ID check at the post office and get the web account working the following week. No rejected transactions, no problems with either mine or the better half's.
Still need to ring them to get the QFF # attached, will do that in the next few days.

All round, not a bad deal for a freebie.

used the link, filled in the application, and finally reach the end, came the message that the application cannot be processed and to call the bank on some 13.... number.

Have applied for this.. to replace my ANZ FF Gold, due to the fact that it does not credit directly to FF, so that if they FF program is "enhanced" then I'll have other avenues for using my points!

I've just applied for this, sounds fantastic! I got an email from a friend telling me about it and then found this forum as a result of searching for more information, because it sounded too good to be true, so I had to be sure!

Thats fantastic news that the supplimentary card is free as well, I was thinking even if they charge the $30 its still cheaper than a standard card + supp card, so all round a fantastic deal!

Will be interesting to see how you go.. I got rejected, because I'm not old enough - even though they state you only need to be 18.

I earn good money (well above what they say the minimum is), and have a perfect credit rating (which is from info from Baycorp, etc.) - so pretty cough. Not happy at all.

Bit late replying, but just saw your question. I received my Citibank Gold Card mid Sept, using a link from this excellent web-site. I already had a Silver Citibank MC. I have since cancelled the silver and they offered to add credit limits together for the Gold Card. Also offered to add the points together, but I had transfered what I had already to QF FF, as I didn't know they would do that.

I've now accumulated 5000 points but cannot find out how to transfer them to my QFF account. Can it be done on the internet? Would be pleased to receive information on how to transfer, Thanks.. Johnmc

Earlier in the thread it was stated that with this 'special' card you can only transfer in blocks of 10,000 - but YMMV as *currently* people have had success doing it in lots of 5000.

I hope I dont get rejected! I thought you had to be 21 to apply? I think i was approached by a sales rep in a shopping centre a few years ago when I'd just turned 18 and when i told them i was 18 they said I wasn't able to get a Citibank card! Same thing with Amex Blue when they were trying to get people to sign up in centres.

My only concern is that i've applied for 3 credit cards this year (all been approved, with decent credit limits too). To my knowledge i dont have anything negative on my credit record, i pay off balances in full and never defaulted on a bill payment. So as long as they dont reject me based on the "too many applications" bit I think I definitely should be ok in terms of age and income.

For the record I will be closing my CBA card in Jan as soon as I get my latest lot of points credited and transferred to Qantas and will close my Earth card before renewal is due!

Either way.. even if it is 21, that's fine - I'm 22 in a few months. Ditto with the shopping centre thing, the guy spent 10 minutes going on about this BP 5% off c/c, then asked how old I was. "Oh, you're not 24 - sorry, you're too young". Pretty annoying. When you've got a good credit rating, and c/c's to the value of 20k that get pretty much maxed out and paid in full every month - oh.. where does the frustration begin!

Agreed, however like all business they need to draw a line in the sand somewhere and I can assure you that it is not done arbitrarily.
