Was talking to an FA on today's travels and she informed me that in the new year QF will be serving Cider as an addition to the current beverages. In all classes I might add.
She believes it is 'Five Seeds' Cider, which is made/owned by Tooheys. AFAIK it is certainly at the lower end of the scale as far as taste and flavor, but better than nothing.
I wish they would start serving James Squires beers on board!!!

They service this in the QP's... but it's a bit annoying as they did serve a more premium cider in the J lounges, but this was short lived and soon became just Five Seeds :(

I've only ever seen it in bottles, wonder if they'll get cans for onboard service?

it's good news for a point of difference but I agree that 5 seeds is very average

VA already serves cider in Y complimentary during the relevant triangle hours, I forget the brand but certainly better than that 5 seeds swill

VA serve Strongbow.

Always good to have another option if one doesn't feel like beer or wine :)

I was almost laughed at when I asked for a lunch time cider last week.
Apart from full strength beef I guess that they had.
Good to read or hear Strongbow of another brand is coming.
Have an afternoon PER to MEL flight Christmas Day.
Best wishes to me to get it by then.
Edit: ah New Year.
VA serves Strongbow Cider in cans.

Not the best cider but a good option for those of us that can't stomach beer...

As a Poochie who drinks and Jess can attest to that, I had a cider.
I can drink it neat or watered down.
Regular non fruity ones can also be swallowed.
JQ does sell Strongbow on their flights.
No beers for me either. Ta.

I had a 150 lashes on board last week on Per-> Mel

Didn't Qantas have Chancer Golden Ale on board in the past? It's not that good.

That they did. I had it a long time ago, but it has NOTHING on the 150.
Definitely the best Pale Ale around as per NM's post.

Thanks for the correction re VA.. I wasn't aware. That's what happens when I don't fly 'em in 10+ years lol

This is very welcome news. I wonder if my emails to customer service had anything to do with it. Probably not, but I'll imagine that they did anyway. :)

Five Seeds is not a good cider, but it is a cider, at last! And it's much better than Strongbow.

mrpooky.

I just bought a 6 pack via the $10 off offer from Woolworths. Sorry to say but the 150 lashes is not that great. Maybe it's just me but it's awful. And $12 for the six pack is too much to pay.

Cans of 5 seeds cider offered on QF767 yesterday...... (in Y)

Asked for cider in Y on QF 767 yesterday, and no go. The FA suggested she might be able to find me some apple juice to mix with soda water.

I declined.
