Interesting article on some Chinese tourists and some of their antics.
Cashed-up Chinese tourists' reputation for uncouth and embarrassing behaviour has so incensed China's leaders that the government has issued a stern warning to citizens travelling to foreign locales for this week's Chinese New Year.

Chinese holidaymakers heading overseas are being warned that any bad behaviour will be swiftly punished with a public shaming on their return.
The harsh new measures follow a spate of international incidents involving Chinese mainlanders that have become viral sensations.

The second article is perhaps attributable to a different culture/way of doing things and as is often the case, a resistance to change your ways in another country (I wonder how they'd go in the Middle East?), but I'm guessing the government doesn't want to see Chinese nationals opening plane emergency exits overseas while having tantrums :p

public shaming is probably a clever threat - for a lot of asians, "face" or others' opinion of them is most important, and i'm sure 99% of them will much rather pay a fine than have their face on the evening news

I honestly don't think the average Chinese person thinks it is talking about them, care, or take attention, let alone consider adjusting the way the act abroad.

Pretty much sums up what I have witnessed in my travels.
