Anyone have any good tips or is just worthwhile to get a taxi from Chicago O'HAre Airport to downtown chicago? travelling with 4 adults and 2 children (3 yrs and 8 months), do they have bus taxis, cheap? any other alternative would be great too?

You can hire a car as well? From OHare to downtown I think it took me about 30-40 minutes driving.

Have a look at American Taxi, more for going to suburbs though:

I second the train. I think it's a little over USD2 per person. It does take about 30 or 40 minutes though but it's convenient.

The Taxis have a mini monoploy which is almost an Oligopoly with the Hire Car Companies that operate out of O'Hare.
Anything leaving the airport will cost you a bomb; that being said the fact you are with children could counterside the cost for convenience. ;)

My thoughts exactly, normally would recommend the train, but with children may be worth the convenience of an alternative. If all else fails, maybe send two of the adults by train and 2AD+2CH in one taxi. And see who gets there first ;)
