By way of a first post, just wanted to pass on my thanks to all at AFF. After several months of lurking and gleaning every bit of info I could (and lots of saving!!!), I have finally booked an AONE4 for myself and my wife for Apr-Jun 2007. As neither my wife nor I are well-travelled, we decided before we go down the family pathway, we needed to see some of the world.

Along the way I have learnt many things - intricate rules (and exceptions) of ATW tickets; that FF programs other than Qantas do exist; AA Candy theft challenges; understanding fare buckets; the myriad of abbreviations and codes in FF language; that planes have registration numbers; how to use Expertflyer; wearing Shure headphones and pants that don't need to be ironed is cool; and, that no matter how much you fly, someone out there flys even more than you do!!

I have only recently gained the addiction to flying, having been lucky enough to get some paid international J trips, elevating me to QF WP. It was only this time last year I joined QFF for the first time, but what a great year it has been!!

So my gratitude to all - I am sure there are many like me who remain largely anonymous, but spend many hours reading the collective wisdom of all who post here. It has taken half a bottle of wine tonight to work up the guts for a first post (first on any forum, ever!!). I'm looking foward to the next half-bottle!!

G'day Hawkeye, welcome to AFF. I guess the red is a good one!

My introduction to this forum 25 months ago was a bit different; I had been doing the FF thingt solo, without advice for 10 years before then. After the 2000 changes I had resigned myself to SG at best for the future.

Well, first AFF, then FT; on the 31st October I had well over 2000 SC's 'expire'. I am WP, SO is PG and the world is mine to traverse.

Enjoy your AONE4; both of you ...

Hey hey Hawkeye welcome - I just wonder where you are going to pour the martini for Pierce ;) There has to be somewhere interesting for it....

Welcome Hawkeye,

You're certainly not the first, and won't be the last, person to benefit immensely from the knowledge dispensed on this site. It has certainly helped me. :)

Enjoy your AONE4 trip.

Great first post Hawkeye - welcome to AFF :)

I am sure you'll soon be rattling off posts like you've been doing it forever.
