Currently looking for a way to get to AKL in January and noticed that Air Canada Aeroplan has seats available on NZ during that time in economy (X fare). I'm curious whether there would be any checked baggage allowance included in the fare?

As Mattg said, on international flights X class booked on non NZ ticket stock is considered a works fare meaning included seat selection, meals, drinks, checked baggage and entertainment. On domestic flights X fare redemption fares match the seat+bag category.

It's worth noting that noting that on NZ ticket stock an X fare one of the cheaper fares that can actually be mapped to any fare type (seat/seat+bag/works etc) and given Air NZ don't use it on their stock as a redemption category, an X fare on NZ stock actually credits for miles/points but only to NZ or UA programs.

I don't think X credits to UA on international flights (domestic is a different story).
