G'day,

I was wondering if anyone had any experience at the Dubai International Hotel and booking for stopovers?

I'll be in the airport for ~8 hours, arriving just after midnight. Do I select a check-in date for the day prior and check-out the day of my flight?

Obviously these are the same day so I'm not sure what to do. If I select check-in the day I arrive, there may not be a room ready if I want to check in just after midnight... the website doesn't give any information on this, which I thought would be pretty important.

Thanks in advance.

If arriving around midnight you would need to book the previous day to ensure you have a room available. If not the hotel may not have a room available till the following days advertised check-in time

Always put in the day before, and make a note, I actually have a 5AM arrival coming up in a few weeks in KUL and have booked the night before, with late checkout I should get some rest.

Just like you said: book from the day before, and let them know you'll be arriving after midnight. They're well used to this. They even sent someone to the gate to guide us to the hotel, which initially I thought was superfluous, but ended up very grateful for.

I checked in at Dubai Sheraton at 1:30am recently.

I did have to book the day before to ensure I have a room ready.

The staff is used to this.

OK, thanks for your replies :)
Ensure you put your flight details in to the booking - the meet and greet at the gate is invaluable in getting you to your room promptly - the hotel is huge and there are multiple receptions so the greet minimises inconvenience. Helps to get something back for the exorbitant rates they charge...

I was under the impression there are quite a few '24 hour' hotels in DXB where you book a 24 hour slot, rather than an arrival/departure day. I know my parents have used one before when flying EK and having a long transit there.

Does anyone know anything about them?

The Address Downtown (Club Rooms) and the Riviera apparently do this.

Lots of hotels in Dubai, but the unique advantage of the Dubai International is that it is airside. So not only no need for a limo ride, but also in the morning no need to go through customs & security. Grab your BP, walk out of the hotel and onto the plane. Sweet.

For some reason I read that as Dubai Shepparton  , and I was like "Wait, they have an international airport in Shepparton now?"

Had a decent stay at the hotel... was a bit uneasy seeing someone holding up a placard with my name on it waiting for me at the gate. Walked me straight to the hotel. Room was nice (Executive suite), but expensive.

It was very strange to arrive in Europe well rested. I probably wouldn't do it next time unless my stopover was longer. Not sure it's worth the cost.
