Hi everyone,

Being a relative new Qantas Club member I was amazed the other day at Melbourne airport that the designated Qantas Club check in line only had 1 staff member allocated to it.

It was about 4.30pm and I went to the QC check in line whilst some colleagues who were not members went to the general check in line.

As I had some guest passes I was going to meet them on "the other side" and have a drink before we went our seperate ways. After a fairly lenghty delay I got checked in and went through the security check and low & behold my friends were waiting for me having been there for some time.

Has anyone else had a similar situation and if so is there any merit in checking in through the general line if upon arrival staff numbers are low in the QC area? Not sure whether it was an isolated case or whether once they have your membership bucks they don't really give too much of a toss!!

Regards

So how did you get on at the lounge? Did they accept your guess passes? The guest access policy for the Qantas Club lounge changed quite a while back (June 2004???), where members can now take in one guest any time they are flying, without the need for a guest pass (Platinum members can take 2 guests). At that time, the guest passes became invalid, even though there are people selling them on Ebay.

Oh yes, I always look at the length of all the queues. But generally I have found the premium queues move faster, and often the regular queue agents will call the next person in the premium queue if there is a delay.

Not in MEL, there's a 5 minute walk between the premium queue and the regular queue  (OK, an exageration - but they are separated by a large space, not continuous counters)

NMgot 1 guest in with me and had a pass from when I had attained Silver status prior to joining the QP - I guess so I could see how the other half lived!
