US status bands for Velocity in Business/First class are:

Code:
  40: 0-750 miles
  60: 751-1500 miles
  80: 1501-3000 miles
(Beyond that is not relevant here)

AUS/SFO (1504mi) is close to the best value at 80 SC's for USD399.

Or if you have time to burn, LAX-SJC return is also 80 SC's for $298. Presumably, the same a/c does the turn around, so you may be able to do 4 a day if you wanted to.

That would be LAX-SJC ...

Other than that, if on Pacific time you have until 7pm tonight in MEL/SYD to book.

Travel needs to be from Dec 23 and complete by Jan 1.

Just a little late for me as I arrive in the US on 1/1. D'oh!

I've got a few trips booked on DL & VX in F & Y. I haven't flown VX before so it will be interesting to compare the two airlines & classes.

I have done 8 F flights with VX including 4 x Trans Continentals. All have been great bar one in which a C grade celebrity sitting in row 1 had too much to drink during the flight and proceeded to vomit everywhere including all over my wife's bags. Staff on board were great.... Staff on the ground not so much.

Interesting that the EWR transcons are $150 cheaper than the JFK flights.
