 can anyone give me some tips on travel to Bali. We have altitude points and are confused about March 31 deadline. dont know if should transfer or not. Looking for best deal for 2 adults +2 sons (age 15 and 13) flights and accomodation. Unsure if we should wait for cheap flights and use points for accomodation or if Altitude give good deals on packages with rewards points. we currently have about 280,000 reward points. Thanks for your help. You all seem very clued up ;)

Welcome to AFF busyhands

I personally would not use points to redeem award flights to Bali as there are significant sales to Bali, right now with Jetstar. For under $500 return all inclusive ex-Sydney which includes the optional checked luggage.

hmm. Ur right but then i have to get accomodation and if i do that separately then its more expensive than an advertised package deal. have read (on here) that singapore airlines have a good points plan. do they fly to bali and do they accept altitude points.

280K will go to Singapore (SQ) to give 140K.

As a Partner Award with them you can get 4 of you get to Tahiti and have points left over......plus you can stop off in New Zealand on the way.

Indeed 160 K converting to 80K will achieve this.

ok. does that mean adelaide to tahiti (via new zealand) with singapore airlines for 160k altitude points ? That seems unreal :) Is that return ?

Yes 20,000 Kris Flyer miles per person will get you a return award from Aus-Tahiti via New Zealand although I am not sure if you can have a stopover in New Zealand.

For a family of 4 it will require 80,000 Kris Flyer miles which can be converted using 160,000 Altitude points....

But be aware that getting 4 seats on Air New Zealand may be difficult. (Singapore dont fly there themselves.)

Air NZ only fly twice a week with their own metal - Fridays & Sundays and I've been looking at awards and have had trouble trying to get 2 seats let alone 4 on dates I wanted.

thanks ........thats unbelievable. guess i just need to check if there is a joining fee now and hope they take altitude rewards. will then tell hubby......kinda had our hearts set on bali thou :)

There is no joining fee for Kris Flyer frequent flyer program and Altitude rewards points convert to Kris Flyer at 2:1.

do singapore airlines fly to bali ?
Yes but that would be a Zone 9 - Zone 2 award which would cost 55,000 Kris Flyer miles each , or 41,250 Kris Flyer miles each if booked online until September 2009, plus taxes and surcharges.

Oh rats.......had our honeymoon in bali and would love to show the boys........but it might just have to be tahiti (which looks lovely. Thanks all so much for your help. You make me feel like the amateur i am but you have provided great info :D
