Hi all

My wife, daughter and I are travelling to Europe in a few weeks.

We have a flight from Paris Charles De Gaulle at 11am, arriving into Athens 3pm.

That morning we're driving in from Reims (90 mins on a good day) to the airport.

What would be your recommended arrival time into Charles De Gaulle? We're flying Aegan Air to Athens

It's been years since I've flown out of CDG and cannot remember how efficient the airport was for departures

I suspect it will be an early morning, most likely arriving at 8:30am.

Thanks in advance
Michael

Greece is in the Schengen Area, so apart from a few quick checks on your passport, it'll be more-or-less similar to flying on a domestic flight. Are you flying out of one of the Terminal 2 buildings? I would say that arriving at 8:30am is overkill. You'll need to allow time to drop off your car, but I'd be aiming to walk into the terminal at 9:30am (or later if you're less super-cautious than I am!).

Thank you - this is super helpful.

Our Aegan Air flight out of CDG takes from Terminal 1. Looking at the car rental company, there is a drop off zone near Terminal 1.

Based on your advice, we should be fine to arrive at 9:30. The counter and bag drop off closes 40 mins before departure.

I was in and out of CDG the other week, actually on Aegean from Athens T1, then out to BKK T2 a few days later. Travel crowds are getting back to normal, and you're travelling in peak season, so don't cut it too thin. And don't underestimate walking times through CDG. Getting to the airport around 9am sounds about right.

The car rental drop off is at Terminal 1, the same as our departure flight. If we get to the airport (post drop off) at 9am I think this will be stress free.

Thanks again!
