Question. I have a upcoming 4 night reservation at an Australian Hilton at a good rate. I need to reduce it by one night at the end the stay. If I attempt on line the process takes me back to making a new booking at much higher rates. Indeed, the room type (King Hilton Guest) I have reserved is not on the list, just the expensive ones are there. Clearly, at least one KHG is available as I have it! I can see two possible options. Call Hilton, and get them to reduce the reservation by one night or second, do nothing until check-in and then ask for the one night reduction. Any advice as I clearly do not want to pay $300+ more a night.

It's for reasons such as this that I always try to book individual nights first off - if every thins else remains the same.

It is then much easier to vary stuff in such situations.

Since it is the last night, it may be a better bet to wait until you arrive to vary the booking.

Thanks Serfty. The thought of making every booking single nights when this year I'll hit 60+ nights does not fill me with joy. Long check-ins, retaining the same room can be issues? I think I'll take your advice and tell them at check-in. I recall from PC days that this was a lot easier to do with IHG bookings.

In my experience doing this sort of stuff is always easier via the in-house reservations - calling the hotel and asking for the front desk and then asking to speak to in-house, not central, reservations has done the trick in all these circumstances.
