Today I flew from Launceston to Melbourne and due to a change in plans Mrs wanderlust_tim and i arrived at the airport two hours early.

Half jokingly I asked if we could be changed to an earlier flight and the check in agent said yes!

The agent then gave me a spiel that due to the holiday season they are allowed to move guests forward for free. Normally it would be a $40 change fee.

I don't know if this is accurate, and/or applies at other airports, but we were two happy fliers.

Would love to hear if anyone else has had the same experience or if we were just very lucky.

Flow forward often operates when flights are full or they are expecting weather.

Even proactively offered at the electronic checkin. (Also saves the Qantas Group $$s in the lounge if you had access)

But definitely less common on Jetstar I suspect

I've asked to change JQ flights to earlier flights a few times out of Sydney, they are always happy to do it for the $30 or $40 fee if there's room.
