Changi Matters

On arrival in SIN head to MH transfer desk in Transfer F and present your passport and luggage tags from previous QF flight and they will issue boarding pass and manually tag your luggage for onward flight.

Awesome, thanks JohnK!

Worked like a charm! The MH transfer agent even had a welcome little dig at QF for not checking their elites through on seperate OW itineraries, as they do :)

Wandering Changi recently I came across the Ambassador Lounge in T2:

Now if you do not have Lounge Access by any other means this may well be suitable for you - shower - limited food - and:

We all know the cost of alcohol in SIN - I did not partake to cannot attest to quality of drinks on offer but still not the worst deal if you have extended daytime connection.

CE, went to the equivalent in T3 on my trip in April, unless we got ripped off due to discount entry, I wouldn't recommend it...

Another thing to remember is that PP / DC card holders have a lounge in every "real" terminal at Changi (I don't think there is one in the Budget one).

What Budget one??
There is only T1-T3 the old budget terminal was knocked down a few years ago, and T4 will open later this year.
While the Air Asia (Malaysian, Indonesian, Thai and Phillipines) are moving in along with Cebu Pacific and Spring.
So is Cathay, Korean and Vietnam Airlines

Also note that not all of the PP lounges include alcohol (eg. Green market)

If our plane runs on time we will only be in Changi for two hours tomorrow morning. Sad times as our vacation is ending and it appears we are heading for a smoke filled Perth from controlled burn offs.
We may have a short time in TPR and then onwards to Perth.

Good to know - the limited time I have used them, they all have booze. Certainly in the main terminals I remember alcohol (albeit "basic").

But to be fair, I am not a regular LCC traveler, so perhaps should refrain from commenting on these things.

I'm not certain the airlines would be super-happy with them advertising "all you can drink" for 5 hours (then go and hop aboard a flight..... what could possibly go wrong!

How so? Or as Pauline would say 'Please Explain'?

We bought a discounted 'DragonPass' voucher each online and we were advised that this particular type of pass while including food (and only a very limited selection available), only included non-alcoholic beverages. Except we weren't told that when we walked in, only when I wanted to get a beer for me and a wine for SWMBO...

Staff were also pretty surly for early afternoon and didn't seem all that interested. Maybe we needed to reset our sense of expectation after our cruise.

OK so the pass you bought wasn't actually the promo in the picture? I must agree food offerings in the Ambassador Lounges are very limited.

I have no idea about value / worthiness of this offer - but if an AFFer had zero lounge access then it may well be appealing.

We have an 8 hour layover here later this month, so I think we will definitely be riding the train a few times and exploring the terminals end to end.

my favourite when travelling P.E or just Y is the Dnata lounge in T3.
clean showers (BYO toiletries, except towel), clean toilets
free alcohol but selection is basic (beers, wines, vodka, gin)
food selection is good but again basic.

for my free citi signature priority pass access and paying US$27 for the wife I'm happy.

Will try goldkris at least once, before my KF gold expires.

Butterfly garden and a massage is always a hit for me. Get a massage that includes a shower.

CE we arrive at Crowne Plaza after 7.30pm so I just take the IHG points offer and no drinks for that overnighter.

A seriously interesting taxi ride from MBS to SIN on Tue afternoon - our taxi driver enlightened us to existence of 3 standby runways that Changi have outside airport perimeter.

Apparently SIN was a target of a terrorist plot shortly after 9/11. Sing govt took this seriously serious - they developed plan to have 3 standby runways able to be quickly converted to landing status should the need arise.

One is part of the ECP on approach to Changi and 2 others on northern side. The section of ECP is easy to identify as you can see less than permanent median strip up centre of ECP - indeed this median strip is designed to be removed within 20mins should need to convert to runway ever arise.

I assume is mostly true - anybody else with knowledge of this?
