Changes to Westpac credit cards from 1 Oct 2026

So can I just ditch the Rewards and keep the card? I don't use it much because my US cards are much better but I don't want to lose an Aussie credit card at my age.

I'm in exactly the same position. If I Have to pay the $75 fee I probably will, but won't make much use of it.

Notified of $75 fee, doesn't use the card, just a back up.
Did a product change/swap and now has the Westpac Low Fee card - $30 pa with fee waived for the first year.
Low fee card has no insurance, no points but no $175 AF + $75 reward fee.

As we all know being retired and hard to get CC's but decided not forking out $250 pa now Westpac

I will close my Altitude card once I've transferred/used my points.

This was a backup card that I've had for years and I probably would have ignored a small fee increase but the way Westpac are splitting it into 2 fees and just being sneaky and slimy about what they're doing, I'm done with them.

I don't pay any annual fee on my Westpac Platinum card (not sure why, but the reason no doubt is lost in the mists of time).

However, if Westpac decides to now whack me with annual fee, as well as the additional $75, it will be the card's death knell for me.

Looking at a new points earning CC now that HSBC is closing. I already have two Amex but need a Visa or MC and because I'm retired I am limited.

I already have a low fee Westpac that I can convert to a points earning one. Does anyone have any insight on whether Altitude rewards are equivalent to earning Qantas points and if AR are worthwhile. I do like the option of transferring to other airlines.

FYI. I've just tried the Flexiroam complimentary 3GB Global Data Roaming and it has been approved.
Supposed to start on 1 October 2026, but I'm not complaining.

I only had 1275 Altitude points, they want 3000 points minimum to Velocity. So I found you can plant trees for 500 points so I planted 2 trees. My previously zero Westpac Rewards fee is jumping to $75, card itself is supposed to be fee-free for life. So can I just ditch the Rewards and keep the card? Also in the boat of waived card fee and need to pay reward fee.

There is a reference in the old program to $100 annual fee rebate for 20,000pts (increasing to 26,316pts)

If anyone gets the chance I would be interested if Westpac offered a point payment option for any of the reward program fee.

And just for those of us (including me) that are not as adept, could someone please let us know the annual spend to earn say 26,000pts. Might help us assess our options.

I think, in the absence of any other ideas, we might see how the first year of paid rewards works out - inclusive of the free data roaming (once per year) and Mastercard Flight Delay - and then reassess.
