Just rec'd the email about computer system changeover

Included were the following;

While we endeavour to minimise the changes to our current membership services, you may wish to note the following differences after we transition to the new reservations system effective from 08 July 2012:

  • • Applicable fees for KrisFlyer redemption ticket changes can be paid for only with credit/debit cards; KrisFlyer miles will no longer be accepted.
  • • Redemption tickets can no longer be cancelled online. Members should contact KrisFlyer Membership Services or their nearest SIA office.
What do AFFer's think of the changes?

Not much to get excited about as a FF'er . I am guessing the call centre cancellation will come with more of a penalty than the current online one. Not too mention the phone call ....hold please.................

Actually that is a bit if a bugger. The points i get for 'free' (ie no cash out), but the $$ come out of the pocket. For insurance cliams I prefer to pay change fees via cash as this will then form part of the claim easier that trying to get them to agree to a cash value of the 5,000 miles fee. Definite downer. Also, it's a business rule from the KF T&Cs which they now need to update.

I'm OK with the offline cancellation of redemption tickets. They had a few different implementations of online cancellation screens and the two times i had to do a cancel they were both times confusing. From memory there was even an option to forgo a miles refund and just receive the taxes back. That was the way it read to me.

I don't think it is a huge issue for me personally, but once ticketed I tend not to change redemptions very often.

In my experience status does help getting these fees waived anyway.
