Story in the business section of today's Australian titled:

Qantas high flyers begin the hard sell of Emirates alliance in Singapore

Sorry I'm not doing a link because of the paywall, google it.

Says:

Asian flights to improve the number of connections by an estimated 25%

Upgrade on A330 services to Asia that are expected to include lie-flat seats in J

40% more available seats to Asia

Qantas to go ahead with upgrades to F lounge in HKG and J lounge in SIN

A380 to continue to HKG

Coordinate with emirates to SIN, KL and BKK continue to fly to BKK, JAkarta, HKG, Manila, SIN, Shanghai and NRT

My flight is called.

Thanks. Thought of checking the other (main?) thread. Just thought this might be a separate stream of discussion, that might get big. Merge in if you wish.

Will hurt Singapore Airport and the overall Sing Inc economy no doubt....
but then maybe thats payback for RedQ/QASia...

With increased frequencies only between Asia and Australia, and better timed flights, might help more than hinder. Also possibly frees slots for others to fly North-West?

If QF is cooperating with EK on the Oz-Malaysia route I guess the chance of an extensive deal with MH would be slim to none?

Not good for through connections to Europe but the schedules into Asian destinations may well improve. Wait and see.

EK don't really have a large offering on the Oz-Malaysia route. Qantas still has work to do if it is serious in Asia, and there is no reason to believe that MH won't be part of that.

I hope so I fly to Manila every couple of months. QF19/20 is usually fairly ordinary.

I hope this means better timings/frequency and greater variety of destinations in Asia.

<Conspiracy Hat> I wonder if the reason QF were having discussions with Temasek was for a JV partner in QF Singapore/asia. I guess its one way of ofshoring the full service airline... </conspiracy hat>
