Change to JASA meant less SC

And today's game:
Rearrange the following words to make a secret phrase known only to afficionados of AFF:

Credit Original Routing (hint, it's a three word phrase)

I hate to go OT here and not keep up with all the funnies :) but husband rang today and for some reason they wanted to know how many points were spent on getting the JASA. I said to him all they need to do is give him the Original Routing Credit/Overly Ridiculous Comedy/Oddly Ripped Cardboard/Often Read Cookbooks but he said they wanted to know for some reason... Bizarre...

Still no result BTW. Oh Really Cwantas?? LOL

Ring back and ask again. If they ask for the number of points again, ask them why they want to know. Make the point that you've purchased the fare they offered and you have stuck to their conditions, if they get all uppity about it. (they shouldn't do)

Why even ring? Just email Qantas, note the booking reference, tell the story and specify that you want original routing credit. I did this when I had an issue in the USA earlier this year and Qantas fixed it all up.

True.

I got shortchanged 20SC last night when I was moved to another flight (direct route rather than xSYD) due to supposed weight loading. Called up QFF today, they said to call back during business hours on Monday.

I'm more touchy about SCs this month than usual because if I get those SCs I'll be +10 over SG for the year; if I don't, I'll be -10 under and will need to spend more money for them! >:-(

(this was QF532 - apparently QF531 had a similar issue, a friend had his luggage delayed when he was travelling on that earlier flight)

Send an email with details of your original booking (attach PDF itinerary etc.) and details regarding the change that occurred (attach photo of boarding pass etc.) to frequent_flyer at qantas.com.au so that it is on record (they will create a service item... or whatever they may call it... and you will get a reference number via email) and then when you call, all the details will be available to the customer service operator. When I did it this way, I was able to talk through what occurred, and they could see the details in front of them, which enabled them to apply the changes straight away while I was on the phone.

Husband got credited the additional FF and SC points so all is good. They took a few days to come through but now he has them and is still on track to reach Platinum before his year ends a the end of February. Thank you everyone who helped!

Good to see you got the right result!

Ok, so if I book a JASA from PER-BNE via MEL or SYD on the red eye flight to maximise SC's, could I turn around at the QF lounge and ask to be put on the direct PER-BNE flight bypassing MEL but then ask for an Original Routing Credit later?

I would suggest not if you were the one to initiate the change

Not really, ORC generally relates to rescheduling of routing due to events attributable to the carrier not a passenger's whim.

Good to hear you got the Originale crédit de routage!

As I read this, I was thinking "but why would you want to fly direct?" and then realised the oddity of my own thinking. Hmmm... it is a bit strange when you start to hold the "why fly direct when you can connect" motto as the norm.

What's strange :?: :D

In light of the OP's post about QF insisting on changing to a direct flight...

QF check in at LAX sometimes insist on moving me to the direct QF12/QF108 flights when I'm deliberately routing via MEL on QF94 to avoid the 747 sub on QF12. It's only until I make it clear I deliberately want to route via MEL that they let the topic go.

Is QF trying to free up last minute capacity on their flights??

Possibly.

The airline will always try and move things around to maximise the seat usage. Remember that there is nothing more perishable than an airline seat.

I called them up earlier this afternoon and they resolved the issue then and there. Adjusted FF points and SC totals were on the website in about fifteen minutes.
