Hi all,

Looking for some advice. I'm booked on a return flight to HK next week (R class), returning at the end of December. The flight was originally booked during DSC promotion. I am now considering extending my return by a few more days, however I know that once I change the booking I lose the DSC eligibility.
My question is: what happens if I change the return leg a week or two after my departure? Do I then lose the DSC only for the return trip?
From past experience the DST points are credited within a few days after completing each leg. Will Qantas be clawing the points for the outgoing flight back if I change the return flight?
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

If you change the booking and the new flight is still within the promo period then you will still get the DSC.

The promo was back in April so it's long gone.
I know I will lose the bonus points if I change the booking, the question is whether I can limit the loss to the return flight only or do I lose the bonus from the entire booking. If I make the change after I depart, that is.

By promo period I meant the period of travel specified in the promotion. If the new flight is in the same pnr and within those dates it'll be fine.

If you change the booking after the end of the promotion (not the travel period) you lose the DSC bonus. It's part of the t&c of every DSC offer afaik

The wonderful secret world of QF filled with rules/processes, fine printed footnotes and sparkling marketing bling which often doesnt quite manifest in reality...can be a bad thing or a good thing...or sometimes both....😜🖖👌

Yes mutliple times sometimes with destination changes as well as date and flight changes.

YMMV and their wording is open to interpretation but so long as the PNR remains unchanged history has shown the DSC will post for all flights

I thought the way they keep track of the DSC eligibility is using the booking number. Once you change the destination or date you get a new booking number don't you?

Happy to be proven wrong.
Just wondering whether I'll be better off changing the return date before I depart or after departure.

AFAIK, it's based on the 6 character PNR. If that does not change then DSC can apply.

Experiences are that if the PNR does change then no DSC.

Your PNR shouldn't change when rescheduling a flight. This is why reality is different to what the T&C suggest.
