CL experiences

I don't feel bad asking these now that the CL discussion has been hived off to a separate thread :)

How does the CBR CL compare to the one in SYD, is it noticeably better on account of its newness?

And - have often do you get a shadow in the premium cabins?

In my opinion they are both quite similar. Well, when I travel DOM J I often have an empty seat beside me. In F not an issue :D

Q for Z.A....

Do you think/are there different levels within CL membership tier?
CL1, CL2, CL3 (e.g.; MP vs CFO vs Ex PM vs Kylie Minogue?) ?

There most certainly is :) I am very sure I am in the highest category with my travel and employer (DFAT) I qualify. I know for sure that there is a status called CLPO (CL Platinum One).

Re: Pre Intl travel call from the P1 desk

thnxs interesting.

I was surprised to see CX omitted here?

While CX has a lifetime tier (now closed AFAIK) and an invite tier for special VIP’s, they essentially get the same service as MPC Diamond, there’s not another lounge that I know of or anything like that. Probably better service?

And to clarify, a family friend is lifetime CX Diamond. Seen the card, he doesn’t seem to get much extra, in fact during the volcano incident in EU a year or 2 ago CX ended up flying school kids home, not high status members, and he had to have Qantas come to his rescue.

Re: Pre Intl travel call from the P1 desk

Is the new CBR CL bigger than the old one? the old CL certainly looked like it was in a small space.

Interesting thread!

Just wondering there much point in having BA Premier in addition to QF CL? Or are the benefits the same?

One of the best benefits of CL is being able to use the F Lounge regardless of airline being flown - I am loyal to QF but every so often you don't have a choice.

Could a BA Premier use the Concorde Room if they were flying a non-OW airline?

Could BA Premiers use BA F Lounges elsewhere regardless of airline?

Re: Pre Intl travel call from the P1 desk

Its more an issue that CL's are in positions of power (usually) over Qantas. If they had a bad experience with QF or were given the rough end of the stick by someone, it could have quite large negative implications for the company. Its in the interests of QF to always give CL's a top-notch experience, as it will make things substantially easier for the company if they ever have issues with governments or large corporates.

A CL may not be as valuable revenue wise, however they are incredibly valuable networking wise.

I wonder if a CL has ever had a bad experience (eg rude FA, not being able to accommodate reasonable seat or flight requests... I'm not talking about the "They stopped serving me alcohol after drinking 7 bottles of Taittinger to myself"-type bad experience) and what would actually happen? Has your CL family member ever had something like that happen to them?

Re: Pre Intl travel call from the P1 desk

Also zachary.august: with seat selection we know that prior to checking in and even before T-80, a CL can select any seat they want and bump someone who may have preselected it (seat selection is not guaranteed by Qantas).
However if inside T-24, can a CL bump another person from their seat who has already done the OLCI and printed their BP? Assuming this person who has already checked in is not a CL. Or can a "higher tier" CL bump a "lower tier" CL at any time (for lack of a better word)?
I would've thought that once the BP has been confirmed, that is final (unless upgrades and op-ups occur inside T-24)...

Not that I've heard. They've been given the run-around by AA but that was different.

That's also surprising that AA would do that to a OWE member... what actually happened? (maybe it could go in another thread so this off topic offshoot of another thread doesn't go off topic again)!

I need to do the TR.

Have I ever had a bad experience as a CL....... Yes just once on Jetstar. I had to fly to HNL on a particular day (the day QF didn't fly) so the CL team managed to get me a StarClass seat onboard. When I got onboard, the FA's were gossiping in the galley about me (they thought that CL meant Celebrity) and then the one says they recognise me from TV and I am a d*ckhead . So I had hideous service throughout the flight. When my seat didn't recline the crew didn't care and said "Only 5 hours to go". So as soon as I landed I rang the CL desk and complained about the crew. Thats about it on a QFGroup airline.

The BA Concorde Room is in T5 in LHR which is BA and IB (selected flights from Mar-12) only - so no access flying a non-OW airline, or indeed any other OW airline.

Doesn’t matter what sort of status level you are, I’d send off an email and ask for proof they’d been fired, that’s appalling!

Is that information that could be released?

Is that information that could be released?

Probably not but I’m sure they could placate you in this case. It’s hard to imagine being treated like that anywhere, much less in a premium cabin and even worse with one of the highest statuses you can get. It’s outrageous really.

They’ll learn one day.
