Not sure about that - there seems to be at least 2000 here on AFF ;)And the annual fee is hardly a 'rumor'.
Hmm...Ive just related what someone else has said. Maybe the writer wanted to say 100,000 and missed a digit.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The Australian circulation of Centurion magazine is 6000, so that gives you a good idea at how many black cards are out there. Combined Europe, Asia, Middle East, Pacific circulation is 58000 (No figures for North America but more than likely bump this number over 100000). By comparison the circulation for Departures (Platinum) is 24000 in Australia and 259500 for combined Europe, Asia, Middle East.

Received my CX Diamond benefit while I was mid-way through my recent trip through Asia. It was pretty neat since I had KA and CX booked anyway and up went my MPG to MPD status :)

HKG check-in at the F counter was fast and excellent. Recommend visiting the F Wing lounge first in HKG to have a meal and shower before heading downstairs for some shopping. Remember to stamp your boarding pass for lounge re-entry and pick up your free buggy shuttle pass if you're going to the really far-end gates!

after shopping, go to the shuttle stop and hand them the card. tell them you want to go to the Pier.

Pier is an F lounge but they have day-rooms available where its just you and a sofa seat with touch-panel controls for the blinds, TV and lights. Lots of privacy here and I had a quick nap before heading off to my plane.

Diamond gets to line up in either the F/J line or a dedicated line for F/Diamond depending on the flight you are on. You are literally the first to board with everyone else looking at you.

CX has little touches with high-tier status customers and the senior purser comes to greet you by name and brings you almost whatever you need.

Overall the-best-benefit from AMEX so far. Please make sure it is renewed or continued next year because for me this has now become the single most important benefit that justifies the annual fee.

Times must be tough at AMEX... I just received my second Centurion invite in as many months!

Are the invites coming towards the end of your annual billing cycle, or part-way through?

I do hope the MPC D benefit continues - have used it a number of times, and is definitely a good benefit. If it was a permanent, or long term deal - is a great benefit which would make allot of people continue to renew. If anyone from Amex is reading this, pass the message up the chain.

Maybe it's the same one they received back via the lavatory express.
Eek! Nah, I just about destroyed the last one getting it past the S-bend...

Part way through. If you are crazy enough to want one, the return phone number is 1800 11 4110. Tell them I sent you! Alternatively, if you want to cut out the middleman, send me $4,300 and I'll send you a bottle of wine!

Pity they penny-pinch these days - reducing payment grace days (less than the platinum credit card!) and then insult by rounding down all purchases for Membership Rewards purposes. All such petty things for a huge amount of dollars. We should vote with our feet!!!! (Or at least Annual Fees!)

To be fair to Amex, they're in business. They must be doing their sums and working out what's best for them and their customers. Some are more equal than others, I suppose.

Unfortunately I don't drink, so the bottle would be wasted.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through my membership year and have hit the limit for the extra 0.5x bonus points on purchases about 2 months ago. I'm now diverting my spending onto my partners charge card account (yes we pay 2 x $900 but we also got 150,000 MR points when we started) and have been overseas for the past 2 months. I'm hoping there will be an invite for me when I get home.

I've had my plat charge card for 8 months and reached cap. Called up and complained and they ended up sending a centurion invite the next week.

It is unusual that the Centurion and Platinum charge cards are both premium cards but come up so short on points rewards.
On Ultimate the new maximum credit limits being given out seem to be $50,000 so maybe there is a subtle push to reduce the total points being earned and more of a focus on other benefits.
I am just so happy to get limits set before this change on Ultimate and I downgraded from Platinum a long time ago in favor of no points capping.
All I got recently was a gushing thank you letter.....no champagne and no chocolates.

You can get effectively get another $100,000 worth of spending on the Amex Plat charge by taking up the free Plat CC they offer you.

I've never understood the rationale behind points capping on the premium cards. Don't CC companies want to encourage people to keep spending on their card so they can continue to make their margin? If people kept spending even after they hit a cap it would make sense but I certainly don't, I just swap my spending to another card until the annual cap refreshes.

The cap on the Centurion seems particularly strange given the way it is priced and marketed.
