Over the past month have travelled a few flights with 5J.
The first flight I needed to bring forward by one week a SIN-CRK flight, which had an original cost of P2,500 (A$65). Using Manage My Booking, I got a price of P4800 (A$125) to change the flight date. I did a search for a new ticket and they were selling new tix for P2,800 (A$73). I just let the original ticket to lapse and purchased a new ticket.
Then a week or so later needed to rebook a HKG-CRK flight, similar sort of ridiculous pricing. This time I had the time to call their call centre to resolve it. Got the change done for about half of the website 'calculated' change price.
So, for any flights changes on Cebu Pacific (5J) I suggest that changes need to be made via their call centre.
Their new enhanced online booking is rubbish.
On a related note, the four flights I took with them all operated on time.
There was one hiccup in SIN when I transferred from an arriving SQ flight to a 5J flight. I had completed the online boarding pass via the 5J app. There was plenty of time as my SQ flight arrived early and I had no baggage. I went to the transfer desk where I showed them my electronic boarding pass. They said it was fine.
Well being seated in row 1 on the A320 I was last pax to board and discovered that I had been removed from the flight as I had not checked-in. Arrggh, they needed to have seen my passport and verified me at their SIN check-in. Lots of phone calls and I was on the flight.
The 5J app checkin is useless. Even on domestic intra-Philippines flights they want to issue a paper boarding pass.
