What's everyone's hit or miss ratio with being notified of a cancelled flight?
Decided to take my 11-year-old daughter to the Harry Potter exhibition in Sydney today. We left Barwon Heads (normally a 75-min drive to Tulla) at 7am for a 10am flight. Left in plenty of time to take into account peak-hour traffic.
Well, this morning was the morning from hell on the West Gate. Ended up getting to the Lounge in MEL to check in at 9.29am so made it by one minute, but was informed that the 10am had been cancelled. Was asked if I got a text or a phone call and got nothing. It happens.
Ended up getting put on the noon flight, but the Lounge supervisor went out of his way to get us onto the 11am. Great service.
Was told there were 9 Gold or Platinum members on board the 10am, but only 7 got notified. Yep, me and my kid.
All's well that ends well though. Got to see the exhibition. Miss 11 was very pleased and now I am enjoying a Cascade Pale in the SYD Lounge having had our 7.30pm flight changed to 6pm.
Just wondering what the hit and miss ratio is for Gold and Plats re cancelled flights?

Tiny sample (about 14 DJ flights total) but the one time my flight was cancelled, due to engineering issues, I received a text message about 24 hours prior.

I probably don't fly often enough. And I am only silver. ( till the weekend anyway) the last delayed flight issue was last Friday. But then nobody saw it coming. 7 hour delay. But it all ended reasonably well.

It's 50/50, there's times when I have rocked up to the lounge to be told my flight was cancelled 3 hours ago and I've had to cut my trip short by a few hours (Which for a day trip, is a lot). Once last year I had to overnight because the last SYD-OOL was cancelled and I was never told and only arrived at the airport just prior to my original departure time. There is times when I get a call hours upon hours before letting me know and being offered an earlier or later flight.

This morning I was dropping a family member off to the airport, and on the way they called me to advise the flight was cancelled, (MEL-SYD-OOL) and they've been placed on a direct service departing 15mins later. Worked out well.
