Hello Everyone

Am at the Canberra Qantas Club. First flight will be QF 560 to Sydney. Nothing exciting to comment on yet. Boarding at 0625 apparently.

Then from Sydney will be QF 739 to Adelaide.

If anyone is around I have a pink laptop. If the laptop is away I'll be reading the book 'Somme Mud'.

Karen

I'm getting into MEL at 1920 from BNE tonight. If your likely to be there I'll keep an eye out for you.

QF560 was late out of Canberra. Chatted a little to woman next to me. When I told her I was doing a status run she asked if I was a flight attendant who needed to get more hours

Landed at Sydney with enough time to dash to the loo then boarded QF739. After the boarding pass was scanned I was reminded I would be in the exit row :D. Gentleman behind me got all excited for me and he asked how I had managed that. He asked me why I was going to Adelaide and when I said status run he asked me if it was for uni

Anyway sat in my 14C seat and ate all my breakfast. Having a relaxing read when Mr Excitment came to chat, suggesting we meet for coffee. He then gave me a pink piece of paper with his first name and number and wandered off.......

My watch said 10:05 and it was announced we'd land at 9:53. It then dawned on me that Adelaide is a half hour behind.

Now I'm sitting in the QP with over 2 hours to fill in. Will veture into the terminal shops soon, just wanted to lay low in case Mr Excitement was hoping to see me after flight.

Good luck on a successful status run, karens! Thanks for an entertaining account so far. :D

Melbourne QP briefly right now. Elderly couple on last flight walk up to my row and look at me so I looked at them. Eventually she said row 13 and I said yes. I then stood up, realising these people weren't going to ask me to move so they could sit down. The couple seemed quite put out there wasn't a choice on the meal. It's a DOMESTIC one hour flight people! The meal was a beef and cucumber sandwich which I actually enjoyed

As usual there was a good bit of turbulance coming in to land :D Not roller coaster but enjoyed it.

No one gave me their number this time......

Gotta dash, about to board and using gate 11 which will take ages to walk to.

Karen

Due back at Canberra at 1630 - if I'm still at Melbourne at 1920 I'm having problems!
And I almost booked the earlier flight back to ADL. Oh well had a nice liquid lunch with a friend in BNE, instead.

Maybe another time, when I have some pink paper ;-)

Finally back in Canberra. Nothing notable on the last flight except it was the Currawong (spelling?), which was also the plane I'd flown into Melbourne on.

Just tried uploading a picture of the phone number (with some numbers covered). Will soon know if I achieved it......

Would I do similar again next year? Yes. But preferably not having to drive - was keen for a stiff drink towards the end. But was good and waited.

Would consider upping the number of flights done in one day.

Thanks to everyone who has followed my adventure today.

Karen

nice TR :D

it'd be nice to organise an SC run to overlap with others doing SC runs...

I reckon the TR reminded me that the regulars around here really are a small part of the (travelling) public - I'm not sure that anyone else would know what a status run or MR is - there were some great responses in there....

A number of posts have been deleted since they have ceased to address issues but started attacking posters

It is perfectly acceptable ( and reasonable ) for people to feel that flying around just to get status is a waste of of time but sarcastic comments attacking it are not on. This is a trip report forum, which is the right place for TRs where people wish to post them; if of the nature of believing that TRs are a waste of time/waste of resources/bad for the planet etc. it might be worth skipping threads in this forum :)

Note: sarcasm is a subset of irony which is of a nature to offend the person to whom it is directed.

If there is a post in the the thread that is offensive , rather than escalate , please use ( as recently used by a cpl of members ) the report post facility

Please keep on topic or the thread will be closed

Well I enjoyed the TR Karens so thank you - can you let us/me know how many SC's you earned for what cost?

45 SC's for about $350. It would have been 50 if I flew back through Sydney but the flights the Qantas website offered would have gotten me back to Canberra quite late.

Will be flying to Melbourne this weekend (mmm, still gotta book) and will pick up the final SC's I need.

I also achieved my 5000 bonus points today so it was a good day all round.

It was good to see a contemporary TR report on a domestic MR.

I used to do them a lot; maybe not so many flights in a day but getting there to SG in the end.

cheers ...

Fair comment Dave.

And to just to make sure that I don't take it off topic, I personally like to read people's trip reports, so thanks karens andall of those who go to the trouble.
I would love to have the time, funds and lack of ties to be able to take off (no pun intended.....well maybe just a little bit) for a day.
