Hi Everyone,
We had to cancel our trip to Europe back in August, after my wife had a back operation in mid-June, and hadn't recovered sufficiently (she couldn't walk much more than 20 minutes, before getting leg pain}.

Anyhow, we lodged our claim for the money that we lost for cancelling the trip - which turned out to be just the price of the air tickets less the refund amount - and we had no problem with our claim on my wife's complimentary credit card CBATravel Insurance (where I had paid an additional $321 for pre-existing conditions and additional rental car insurance). After the $250 excess, we are getting back around $670 from memory.

They did ask some odd standard questions on the form our GP had to fill out, on matters totally unrelated to the medical issue which caused the trip cancellation.

So thanks again to everyone here who gave me wise counsel several years ago when I first joined AFF, that I use the complimentary credit card insurance, rather than buying it separately.
Regards,
Renato

That's interesting about CBA. I was looking around for a credit card with no fees, no age limit on the travel insurance and not the 3% currency conversion fee. I found Bankwest (a subsidiary of CBA) has a no fee Mastercard which ticked all the boxes.. so got that . CBA itself doesn't have this same product. It is good news that the CBA card worked for you!
