I've already started switching everything over to Westpac Altitude Black, but if I got this offer I'd switch everything back :) Fingers crossed...

Received a new Rewards Signature card for myself and a new supp card for my wife in the mail today with an offer to upgrade free of charge from my current Rewards Platinum. Quite a nice surprise. Not sure if it's because I wrote in a complaint about the reduced transfer rate or if it was just a coincidence, but happy either way!

Well looks like I lucked in with the same offer :)

As I previously posted I called Citi to enquire about the change in points. Was told the point transfer would remain the same for myself, etc etc but I didn't want to take any chances and told them to upgrade me to the Signature Card. They said they would reinburse me the $199 Fee from my Platinum Card and charge the $395 for the Signature. So I would get my first year at $199 with the Credit and then reverts to $395.

Fast forward to today and I recieve my Signature Card. Ring up to activate go through the Activation process where they try and throw more Citi products at me which I declined, and then they tell my existing User Name online that I used for my Platinum Card won't work for my new Signature Card and I would have to re-register online in 7 days time when my new pin comes :( Not happy with their coughpy site which needs me to create a new profile for a new card but them are the breaks. :(

Then she tells me "I'm just confirming that your yearly fee is going to remain the same as your Platinum @ $199 for life". I had to ask here to verify this over and over again and she said yes $199 for life for my new Signature Card. At least the conversation is recorded on their system so I'm quite happy with that :) Then after hanging up I read the letter that came with my new card and sure enough it tells me the same thing. So now I have it in print as well :)

Says "As a value Citibank customer we're delighted to invite you to upgrade to the Citi Rewards Credit Card - Signature at no extra cost (usuallu $395), Also enjoy up to four free additional cards for your loved ones."............."This exclusive offer ends 14 June 2013."

So I got my Platinum yearly fee reinbursed and got the same yearly fee applied for the life of the Signature Card :)

Glad to hear it! Sounds like you've got a great deal with the reduced annual fee for life :) The wording of the letter is the same as I had, same offer end date etc. I was signed up onto the Platinum last year when they had a no annual fee promotion, so my first year on the Signature is great as it's also fee free. After that I'll have to hope that they negotiate a reduced annual fee.

It is annoying how a new PIN has to be sent and new online access be set up, isn't it.

Hope more offers head to people's mailboxes next week

To those who received a Signature upgrade, what was your credit limit on Platinum?

$13k. Not sure if they will automatically bump up my credit limit to the minimum for the Signature (I thought it was $15k, but it could be $16,000)

Spizz, at first when I read yours I had assumed you'd previously negotiated a reduced annual fee for your platinum rewards card, however I now realise that $199 is the normal annual fee for it. Re-reading my letter, it doesn't specify for how long the Signature card will be at the reduced annual fee of $199 so perhaps I too have got it at that rate for life! I'll have to call and clarify.

Sorry it is $15,000. I'm above that and IMO only got the offer to move to Signature due to this. But as you were below that who knows?

Yes they reinbursed me the Platinum Annual fee as a Credit on my account, and have told me the $199 is the life time annual fee for my new Signature card :)

I believe you will also have it for the life of your card as well, but call to verify.

I'm kinda wishing I went for the Citibank Platinum (1.9% for 15mths BT) rather than Citibank Clear Platinum (0% for 6mths BT) when I applied some months back. A reduced fee for life upgrade to Signature would be nice!

Yesterday I transferred 30000 citi reward points for 20,000 KF points using the Android Citi app , showing 1.5 per =1 KF point. tried to do more transfer for velocity points now saying to contact CB
Went online today and found that they have taken 40,000 instead of 30000 from my points pool, for the KF, and that now is 2 for 1. I'm not happy.
Will be calling tomorrow. time to change CC I think. No notice to these changes is poor customer service.

Tell CS the app said one thing and you got deducted another and you want your correct amount of points that have been over-deducted back.

Tried converting 60k citi points to velocity yesterday with Citi Platinum. Was quite annoyed to find it said 2:1 so didn't convert. Then found this thread. Tried moving them on my mobile which still says 1.5:1, but seems to be disabled. Called up today. Seems like even their call centre staff isn't that clued in with the change. Initially was told rate was 1.5:1 so I said done, convert 60k:40k. A moment later, she finds their system only allows 60k:30k and gets puzzled. Person speaks to supervisor, then comes back to me and clarifies that it's been changed to 2:1. I get upset about lack of notification, retrospective devaluation, etc, she offers 5k citi points as a remedy which is the best they can do. I say no, since I'm still 7.5k points out of pocket (60k:40k, vs 65k:32.5k) so I lodge an official complaint over the phone. Also lodged a complaint using the form on their website. Will see how this plays out. Highly annoyed they can pull this kind of thing and next step will be regulatory bodies if I don't hear back.

Spoke to CBS today and logged a complaint telling them to reimburse my points that they stole off me when I did the conversion using their app which showed 1.5:1
He told me that he has put in a request and I should get a answer with in 7 business days. Now its awaiting game, Accc will be the next move if no satisfaction.

I wasn't aware of that. However, I couldn't find anything that indicated whether or not the NAB Rewards Program only allowed redemption towards QFF, or if they also had other rewards. I'm just thinking that because Citibank Rewards allows redemption for other things, and those redemption rates have not changed, the argument that the points value has been "devalued" might not be as strong.
Most rewards programs allow rewards for "other things" but noone in their right mind should redem for those!

Thought your situation would of been a no brainer and they would of reinbursed you the difference on the spot.

Even though I have the Signature and am therefore not impacted, this sets a pretty worrying trend. I am making sure I transfer my Points to airline programs at least monthly to pre-empt any possible sudden changes to the Signature proposition.

Only problem with that is expiry of points if you don't travel with 3 years (not likely) or you want the flexabiliy of chosing which program to move points into.

Not likely but it is possible. I have been amazed to find I do have some SQ points which have appeared on my expiring miles list on SQ, albeit not until next year.

Well today I checked my points balance a looks like CB come through they refunded my 10000 that they took extra, and gave me a further 35000 points top up so that I could make my velocity 50000 point conversion.so Im happy about that at lest
So now Its up to me to decide if I still want to use their CC for future purchases, I think I will have to start looking else where for a fee free CC for life with good points conversions any suggestions ? used app to do the transfer still shows 1.5 :1

Fee free and good points conversion don't usually align. You should consider the idea of writing to Citi, saying that you are upset about the change and can they offer an upgrade (on existing fee conditions) to Signature. You can only ask!

Surprised to receive a letter out of the blue upgrading me for free to the Signature card from Platinum. Maybe they noticed that I haven't been using the Platinum card since the change. I did not call them or anything, the card just came, and I just had to call to redeem this upgrade.

They say everything will be transferred across, so I am hoping the current points in my account can be transferred at 1.5:1
