I am a Qantas Gold FF and have been for a number of years. I have just started working for a new company who flies Cathy Pacific from OZ to the Middle East.
Whilst i am employed fulltime in Australia, the Middle east job is basically part time and will involve about 5 to 7 flights via Hong Kong.
My employment in OZ will keep my Gold FF status, but my question is how i should go about taking advantage of the FF and SC from the cathy flights.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

OK - I assume you are flying business class?

Flying CX under the QF scheme you do not earn the Status bonus (50% as a QF Gold) but do get the cabin bonus and the standard points.

So assuming flying in Business you will earn 480 SCs per round trip and 20703 QFF points. There is not much more to do other than make sure you enjoy the HKG lounges :) This will be enough to put you well into the QF Platinum realm :)

There is however another option - American Airlines AAdvantage program. Under the AA program you would get the status bonus. After two ronud trips under the AA scheme you would be close to AAdvantage Platinum (equivalent to QF Gold) and would after that point get the 100% status bonus - something to consider.

After 4 round trips on QF you would have earned 83,000 QF points. After 4 round trips you have earned 114K AA miles and as follows your earning would be (trips/qf points/aa point)

5/100/151
6/120/188
7/140/227

There are lots of other things to consider such as lifetime status, credit card points, class of travel (I assumed J but you might be in whY and that changes things). The burn rates (i.e. points required for a trip) are often a lot cheaper than QF (especially in premium cabins).

Happy to explain more if you are interested.

Sounds like a great job - that is unless you are an "independent contractor" working for Halliburton...

Cheers
