I remember flying there with CX in a 747 back in the 90s. Guess slots are easier to find at LGW than LHR.

Whenever possible I always try to fly out of Gatwick. Especially like the ability to check in your bags the night before so all you do the next morning is walk through security.

Much better location of well priced hotels (Premier Inn 20m from the terminal for example) and so easy to drop your rental car off at the terminal vs the Heathrow odyssey.
