That's a reasonable response from the airline:

The airline apologised to the couple for the incident, and offered to refund the child’s ticket with three one-class upgrade vouchers and to cover the costs of medical check-ups.

Should have thrown in a wine subscription for good measure :D

Either way I'd be putting the parents on the Banned list, for the simple reason that your performance may not live up to their expectations.
 
Parents saw $$ signs. Who is to say the parents did not switch the drinks then alerted cabin crew as soon as child had a "sip" of wine?

Anyway, it's not right for crew to make a mistake and this is not the end of the world.
 
On a very recent Fiji Air flight from CBR to NAN, there were a few 3 year olds who could have done with a shot of wine.
