Welcome to Cathay Pacific 747 First Class…

It might seem quiet blasé to say it, but once you travel 747 First with Cathay, it’s hard to go back to Qantas 747 First.

SPACE
The first thing that you notice, as you turn left, is how many fewer seats there are in the Cathay nose cone, when compared to the positively cramped Qantas cabin.

PRIVACY
Another immediate thought, as you move toward your seat, is the fantastic privacy Cathay affords its First Class passengers when compared to Qantas 747 First.

And if you like travelling in row 1, you notice the absolute bonus of; no potential for foot traffic to the forward wardrobe, because there isn’t one! (Just enough passenger storage for the front row customers only.)

So, here’s a pictorial guide the to A section on a CX 747, and we start (of course) at 1A…

1A – foot rest, and extra width foot-rest/bed extension (which can be deployed/operated separately to the main leg rest)

Once you are seated and look forward, you can see the additional seat (with it’s own belt) for companion dining or used for extra length when in horizontal bed mode.

Someone choosing 2A, might appreciate sitting in a location with a wider aisle space separating you from anyone seated in 2K.

Perhaps the most notable seat on Cathay’s 747, is the centre throne. Yes, there’s just one seat in the middle, and centre of everything in the First Class cabin.

Even the First Class toilet is bigger on Cathay Pacific’s 747, when compared to the cramped standard Qantas size.

A two window panorama greats you as you arrive.

I hope you enjoyed my tour of Cathay Pacific 747 First Class, and next time you are inclined (or are fortunate enough) to fly First Class, I hope that you remember - 9 seats are better than cramming in 14!

Looks great but then QF 747 F is gone within 12 months I expect, and that CX First doesn't look much different to QF A380 First.
I actually think this is the perfect First, from what I have seen of SQ/EK they appear way too private (or in my mind claustrophobic)

Thinking about AONEs - what routes do CX and JL have left?

Wonder why they used the wood look?, old fashioned on todays aircraft.

You add Coke to JW Blue Label?

I know; way to ruin good coke!

At least if you are going to ruin good coke, this is the good stuff, but I would rather not have my Coca-cola adulterated. I plan to travel in first one day (if it is still around by then), but I won't be the one who makes good use of the expensive alcohol.

Thanks for that, pics are great. Ashamed to say have never travelled CX in any class  . After that little tour it looks worthwhile

LOL, I know, and you are not the first person to chastise me...but I do order it neat, well on the rocks, then have a few mouth-fulls before finally/continually diluting it down. So, I can appreciate the quality (and discern the difference, even after mixing it). Often the one glass of scotch can suffice for a flight, even if by the end it is so diluted that I am really only drinking mixer.

For those suckled up to QFF status, who don't like the direction that current management has been taking by "enhancing" status, then IMO the only way to send them a message, is to stop flying QF where/when possible... simple! (And to pass that message around your communities of influence!) If you are silly enough to remain loyal to a program/airline that has not remained loyal to you, then you deserve what you (don't) get (anymore). Current Qantas management has done a great job of weaning me off their teat. :)
