It relates to how likely you are to attend:

Platinum: Definite. Flights/hotels booked etc.
Gold: Probably. Just sorting out some details.
Silver: Unlikely. Unless something changes I won't be able to make it.
Bronze: Apology. Have a clash or just can't make it work.

Oh and copper means that you might make it or maybe not because you might be in Singapore or that could be Darwin but you won't know until the day before and may or may not be able to get a flight then but you will see what you can do and is it too late to come for dinner.
