Capital Airlines Delays/ Cancellations

A332 B-8550 on JD461, the overnight TAO - MEL should arrive on Friday 28 July at about 0855, half an hour late.

On a foggy Wednesday 2 August 2017 in MEL that has already seen the ex CBR VA252 divert back northwards, JD461 (A332 B0-8221, the 1905 hours Tuesday night TAO - MEL that was airborne at 1916, on time) was diverting to ADL as at 0825. The flight deck member's English was not great. Earlier, the flight may have had a missed approach from the east but perhaps the pilot misunderstood ATC as at that time all arrivals seemed to be using runway 16 in MEL.

UPDATE: By 0835 hours, the pilot had conferred with ATC and asked to resume tracking to MEL.

JD461 landed in MEL at 0919, an hour late after an interesting flight pattern.

On Wednesday 11 April there was a morning incident in MEL where a JQ flight had to turn back.

JQ461 from TAO to MEL was held southwest of Kerang (Vic) and should arrive at 0904 hours, 39 minutes late with A332 B-8221.

The TAO - MEL JD461 arriving on Sunday 29 July 2018 has A332 B-8550 and looks to be arriving at gate at 1022 hours, 117 minutes tardy.

About 5 free seats. The crew must have different working hours than other airlines. The cabin crew were waiting at Mel gate for about 90 mins, did whole flight 11hr30min then landed in Qingdao did customs went back on board and was same flight crew to next destination! Plane was in ground for about 45 mins. One of the flight crew my friend added the WeChat and she said she didn't get back until 5am!

Sorry, you're suggesting the cabin crew operated the entire flight to Aus, then immediately the return to China?

JD461 from TAO down to MEL has A332 B-8550. On Friday 15 February 2019, it should arrive at 1013, 48 late.

The 1125 hours scheduled returning flight, JD462, should still be able to depart punctually if the turnaround goes well, again showing the utility of international airlines allowing more than minimum turnaround in 'outstations' if slot and gate availability and other considerations make this feasible.

On Friday 28 June, JD479 from TAO to SYD, the 1905 hours, took off at 1943 (about 15 late.) Saturday 29 sees A333 B305-R arriving at 0921, 46 late as there may have been some fog earlier affecting flights.

A rainy Thursday 16 January 2019 morning has JQ479, the overnight from TAO down to SYD (A332 B-8982) suggested as arriving at 0843, 33 late despite taking off at 1804 yesterday early evening, only 19 minutes after scheduled gate departure. Like many aircraft it had to hold close to SYD, west of winery-known Pokolbin.

Much earlier on Sunday 2 February, in response to the ban on non-citizen non-permt residents (unless with immediate family) entering Australia, JQ461, the 0925 hours scheduled MEL arrival overnight from TAO was cancelled.

Capital Airlines is one of seven or eight mainland communist Chinese airlines that have gradually returned to Oz in the last few months, although often frequencies have not (yet) been restored to the 2019 or before situation. The number of international students from that nation studying in-person in Australia was down about 50 per cent last I read.

On Sunday 25 June 2023, JD462 (A332 B-8221) on the 1430 hours mid afternoon SYD-TAO was in the sky on time at 1452 hours, but adverse winds see its arrival at gate suggested as 2320 hours, 45 minutes behind schedule.
