Cancelled award booking.

I want to make sure I have it right. For the first time I have had to cancel an award flight booking for two of us. Points have been refunded to my QFF account from where they came, less the cancellation penalty for both of us. The money surcharges etc have been refunded to my credit card but only for exactly 50% of the charge ie $250.00 rather than $500.00. I am assuming this is a mistake and that the fees for only one of the two pax have been refunded. There is no additional hit on fees is there?

Yes, it's a mistake, though seemingly not uncommon.
You'll have to call to get it resolved.

That's not a wise answer when QF could just as easily block the QFF account in question etc.

It was more a question than an answer even though I left off the question mark. I am travelling overseas at the moment and I don't want to spend the usual 90 minutes on Skype to QFF. I'll wait until I get home if I need to.

The same thing happened to me last week. I called, they could easily see what the issue was and refunded the 2nd passenger's taxes the next day.

A mistake and you’ll need to call up. They know about it but IT haven’t fixed it. Same happened to me I think around 6 months ago. I think I asked the same question here at the time. It can wait until you get back.

Same thing happened to us. Also I had to chase up the second person's refunded points.

Involving the card issuer should only be a last resort. Start with the merchant.

Same with me last year on a Emirate booking. A quick call to Qantas and they said the second ticket was not cancelled and hence the taxes were not refunded (even through the points were already credited back). Less than 24 hours later the money appear on my credit card.
